Well I finally got around to getting a Kephart form the Kephart King himself, our very own Stomper.

I picked up some American Osage and sent it to John for the scales. This one is also marked with a "1" as it is the first in a run of "Traditional Kepharts" John is doing. No exotic woods or synthetic handles... good old fashioned American woods.

I also received the knife made from my winning design from his recent skeleton knife design contest.

I am extremely impressed as usual with John's work. The Kephart is outstanding and is going to be the perfect all around "do all" kind of knife. The contest knife is the spitting image of the sketch I entered in the contest. John does amazing things translating a desgin from paper to steel. Again, extremely impressed as usual. Thanks again for the contest John, and to those who liked my design. Now if I could just find the time to take them out and get them dirty rather than taking some glamor shots in the backyard!

Nice photos, thanks for posting them! I`m glad you are liking the Kephart, it`s still my favorite.

Nice. You'll find John's kephart to be an incredibly useful knife! Those handles are going to look even better once they start to age a bit. I'd avoid applying sealent or tung oil for the time being. Just let the surface oxidize on its own and darken up.

Hi C Bryant -

Nice!

Thanks for the pictures.

I can't wait to see mine with maple burl.

best regards -
