I finally got it, the Flu that is (I think), everyone in my family has had it, but I managed to make it through 2/3 of the flu season. Oh great, stuffy head, ears stopped up, aches in every joint and muscle in my body, deep cough that feels like it's tearing my lungs out. And to put icing on the cake, a temperature of 100.4 all night and today. Not that bad of a fever but just enough to make me feel like crap.
I went to pick up my grandson at school the other day and I think everyone in the school was sneezing and coughing, made me wish I had wore a mask. Lets see, if I could just remember my grandmothers old remedy........an ounce of kerosene, soaked in a rag, wrap it around my neck :eek: and then drink a shot of whisky....... :rolleyes: (Wonder what the kerosene was for ?)

Just don't mix the two up. :barf: Of course if you do, the flu will be the last thing to worry about! LOL :p

Glockman99, no projectiles yet :eek: , but thanks for reminding me that it's always possible :barf: . I am hoping it stays within certain boundaries, and that which you describe is not one of my favorites :( .

Well, we have the intestinal virus version "running" (yes, pun intended) through our community and family. I am the only one thus far not affected in my family. It only lasts around 24 hrs, but it ain't fun. I just love it when the kids go back to school and bring back all these fun little germs. :rolleyes: :mad: :barf:
 
Years ago before we had a dishwasher,we would all get the flu every year. The super-heated water seemed to get our dishes sterile enough. Our problem was the kids bringing colds home from school,we'd get over them & somehow re-cycle them back to school,stronger & then they would seem to strengthen & here we'd go again. Understand today nursery schools are the largest dispenser of all this.
Getting old has SOME plusses.Kids have kids but far away.

I didn't feel right for three weeks after this particular stomach bug. I had a hell of a time staying hydrated during three full weeks.
 
I'm currently in "flu recovery." :D


Nasty. . . .nasty. . . .nasty. . . . .stuff !


For the first seven days. . .I did a shot of Jack Daniels (always keep a bottle in the freezer) every 3 - 4 hours. I'm not sure that it helped. . . .would like to think that it did. Sure as helll felt good. :D

I do know that it beat the helll outta the wife's remedy. . . .Vick's nasal rub. That looney tune chased me around the house for 4 days with a large jar of that. . . . well. . . .stuff. :barf:


Hey. . . .between the Jack and the old lady chasin' me around the house. . . .I probably recovered a lot quicker. :D
 
Hey guys, thanks so much for the reply. This has been a doozy so far, temps around 100 or above for three days now, I think I coughed one of my lungs up, and the worst part is I gave it to my wife on the second day :( .

Gosh, who's going to feed me and bring me cool drinks now.......... :p

Put some Tiger Balm on yr chest, drink ALL of the water, tea, etc you can get down your neck, sleep as much as you are able- and make DAMNED sure that you're 100% better before you go back to your normal life & over-exert yourself- mine came snapping back w/ an ass-kicking vengance. Robitussin DM (Guifenessin /Dextromethorphan) is your friend for those chest-wracking coughs.
 
No flu! Like the man says "Shoo shoo retarded flu, ya sonuvabitch"-Gary the Retard...

Now, if I don't get my annual stomach virus :barf: , I'll be okay :D .
