Although I have absolutely no use for a subhilt fighter, I have been infatuated with them since seeing the Loveless Big Bear on the front of his how to make knives book. I finally found me one that I like and could afford. This is by Harold Corby with ats-34 blade steel and black micarta scales. Sorry about the quality of the pic(I was trying for one of them cool gun/knife pics and I didnt quite succeed). I would love to get a loveless subhilt but I'm not quite ready to sell my house and live on the streets to have one

. I've never seen one for sale, does anybody have any idea what they are selling for? I am also looking for a maker to make one a little more personalized for me. Any suggestions?

Last I heard the Loveless subhilt was going for $4600.00. Lot of cash, but if I had it I would pay it for one of his knives. I have one of his drop points and it stays in the safe deposit box. Got it nine years ago and it has gone up in value every year. Good investment. I would be interested in talking with you about making a sub hilt for you if you are interested. I love working off customers ideals. Let me know

Sam, I like your picture; you just needed to turn it around.

Nice looking knife.

Love that subhilt. I just got my first one on order not too long ago. That is one of my favorite styles as well.

You need to adjust the color ballance too. For some reason, when I try to save this image to adjust it for you, all I get is an HTML file that I can't edit and I don't particularly care to spend much time fiddling with it. So, you'll have to do it yourself. But, as a general rule, and maybe I'm wrong having never seen this one in person, blades are not purplish blue.

I said it was a crappy picture.

The knife is the standard bead-blasted grey. Hey Rick, glad you like the knife. It's a Colt Series 70 Nickel Commander.

As Mr. RGRAY pointed out, once turned 90 degrees, it's a very nice picture. The composure is good. I like the juxtaposition (you didn't know you had juxtaposition, did you?) of the horizontal sheath paralleled by the gun's slide with then angle of the knife and the gun's handle. I might have rotated the knife about ten or fifteen degrees clockwise so that it would almost parallel the gun's handle. But, being at different angles is nice in a different way. The background is good, The lighting is perfect (and that's a big thing to get perfect). Correct that color cast and you've got a great picture of a great knife.

You guys like sub-hilts, huh? Well, here's a pic of my Ray Beers Stewart fighter which was made in 1985. It is 154CM with stls fittings and Ivory micarta scales with blue liners. The toy in the background is my Novak Special Ops Hi-Power, which has been finished in Robars NP3. Sorry about the pic, but I don't have the lighting equipment to take good pictures of high polished blades.

That composure really does work well, I think. It creates a feeling of intersection, of knife and gun coming together.
