I finally got one.

Does anyone know what the box for this one would be. Would it be the yellow box that was used in the 70"s?

The box is a very, very light tan in color (lighter in color that those that I am sure you are calling "yellow" and lighter in color than those used for the second series Schrade and the Cami's). However, it does have the hammer and bolt on the box lid, just like the others. Those boxes are exceeding rare these days; I have only seen two in my entire life. Maybe you could take one of the "yellow" ones and place it in direct sun light for a while to "bleach" it out and mimic the original to some extent. ;) Incidentally, it is my understanding that the first series Schrade 303 (Cadet) does not have the grooved bolsters as does the 301.

Thanks Tin Sue,
I think I have seen the boxes you are referring to. Maybe one day I will stumble on to one of them. Right now the oldest box I have came with a first geration Riggers knife 73-74. You are correct about the first Cadets not having the grooved bolsters. So the search continues.

that looks like a find
i do not think i have ever seen one that had the groves in the bolsters !

Mother in hospital. I am doing day duty today. Will have photos of "BOTH' versions of Schrade 303 Cadets on thread tonight ,NO bolster grooves on any other of 300 series knife but your 301, will see if I can drag out correct yellow box as described by Tin for photo. The most common version Schrade 303 currently with same seller as your 301 at the 'site'. Back in 10 or 12 hours.

300Bucks, I will be looking for those pictures because I have a 303 that I bought, I don't remember when. Is there a way to tell the Schrade made Buck 303s?

There are a number of ways to distinguish Schrade from Cami made 303's, including (1) a slight difference in overall shape or configuration of the knife itself; (2) pivot pins not visible on Schrades, but are visible on Cami's, but this can be hard to detect; (3) handle scale pins appear larger on Schrades than on Cami's, and later Cami's (after 1971) lacked scale pins entirely, and (4) rivets in the brass liner that hold on the bolsters are visible inside the blade well gaps of Schrades, but not Cami's (I find this one the easiest). I'm sure 300Bucks will be along later with some great photos of all this!!
