I fixed the centering on my 940-1

It was easy! I pressed the blade on a table and pushed down on the handle in the OPPOSITE side that it seemed like I needed to. It did take some force and I was a little worried about breaking the knife. Now I not only have good centering, but I gained some trust in this lightweight knife being a lot tougher than it looks.

I did not mess with any screws in the process. Just thought I would post a success story on this fix.

But I just did exactly what you said on my off center 940-1.
And it worked, exactly like you said.
So thank you for posting this.

I'm now going to carry this for a week to see if it stays centered.

Honestly I don’t think I would have attempted it without having a lot of faith in Benchmade’s customer service. Fortunately that little lightweight is a lot tougher than appearances would have one believe.

If you don’t mind, follow up in a week or so and post if it kept its centering. I’ll do the same.

I've tried this trick as well. Works on most knives from my experience. It will likely move back out of center with use though. That's been my experience anyway.

I do a variation of this to center 710’s and it works for some other models as well. I loosen but don’t remove the back body screws and then while I apply the pressure I tighten them down. It has worked really well and so far I haven’t had any return to off center

Well after a week it's still pretty well centered. Happy with that so far. Thanks again, my 940-1 was sweet in every way except centering.
Now it's just sweet.

Next up, the 586. Was almost touching on one side, now centered and in use for a week.

Mine is still dead nuts centered as well after a week of carry and use. It was interesting how the adjustment made it centered instead of off on the other side. Seems like the centered position is where the blade “wants” to be.

I used that method on a couple knives since Jimmy-- @Benchmade --brought it up in a post last year. For more stubborn knives or fussier fixes, you can try the method referred to in this thread.
