i finally ponied up and got a ZT 0300. i've been looking at striders, but didn't really like the lines of the bigger ones. the 03** series have always caught my eye and the price is definitely more friendly than striders while appearing to be at least as sturdy.

well, i wasn't dissapointed. i did find that the scales were going to wear through my jeans pockets in no time, so i took it apart and took some emery cloth to the scales. on the Ti side i knocked off the ridges and finished off with a 600 grit to polish it up a bit, and the G10 side i took down a little lower, and left a little rougher at about a 200 grit. the thing sure fills my pocket and is an absolute beast of a knife. i cleaned it up, washed out the grit, put a little miltec on it, slapped it back together and 'voila', it's good to go. locks up like a rock and sharp as hell, what more could you ask for.

i do have to say that the only thing i don't like so much is the pivot bolt. i don't like having a 3/8" nut sticking out the side of my knife. what the hell is up with that? "ease of adjustment in the field?" who the heck carries a 3/8" wrench with them in the field? i'm more likely to have my torx with me. if any body ever makes an after market pivot that sits flush and is torx adjustable then i'll be all over it. other than that, it's an outstanding knife for the price and i'm more than happy to have finally got on board with a little kershaw love.

enough mods to warrant pics? also, same could be said of torx, i know no one who carrys torx out of the house (except those who bought the kershaw t-tool). my guess is in a military type application a 3/8" hex would be easier to come by (field mechanic) than a torx bit. just my .02

btw which color did you buy?

I used my multi tool to adjust my pivot on my ZT0205 so I can see how it makes the adjustment easier in the field. Especially since the target market for Zero Tolernace is military, law enforcement, and first responders; who usually carry or have quick access to some sort of multi tool.

I just remembered that I carry a tiny crescent wrench on my key ring. So I already have my "ZT 030X field pivot adjuster!"

Now all I need is a 030X.

If it wasn't so close to christmas and I didn't have seven nephews and a niece to buy for... I'd have a 0200 in my pocket right now.
I'll join you in January. :)

it did so happen....

not that major of a mod, but here's some pics after it got smoothed out a bit. i like the way the contrast looks on the Ti side.

I like the look of the Ti side. Makes me think of old hand tools that've been worn and smoothed with years of use.

It has a nice worn-in look.

.

Thanks, Winston. I've been doing more lurking that posting (on BF) of late.....

That Ti side is so awesome! Looks like a slide of Kimber's 1911 "eclipse."

I would think the primary benefit of the 3/8" pivot is sturdiness - it looks huge compared to the regular pivots.

0200 is my next knife. Just retardedly solid.

I like the worn look of the TI side!

noboost, the main reason for the 3/8ths nut on the 030x pivot is for easy field adjustment.

If you'll looking for a big ole sturdy hard use knife, then the 300 is hard to beat. Welcome to the ZT club. I started with a 302 and now have 6 more ZT's. The addiction is a curse and a blessing.

Nice! reminds me of Strider gunner-grips
