It was bound to happen. So many different Bucks. I try to separate the ones I will be interested in vs not by the made in ID factor. Yesterday, tired of considering a Nighthawk, I went forth to handle one... at my first stop, Wally World. Of course, all they have is the short 655 - and it's serrated, another strike against it to me.

The handle felt fine - but it's bitter end looked like a dog had chewed on it. The black coating on the blade looked thick - and varied in thickness - almost obscuring the serrations, which it covered. The straight edge was shiney on the bevel - and not up to the even sharpness of the 119 I looked at there - for less (My 119 came from a sporting goods store - with the leather sheath.). Unhappy, I terminated my trek for a 650 from a larger local yuppee sporting goods store.

Of course, I am not a 'tactical/survivalist' knife type. Sure, I have a Gerber LMFII - but I received it as a Father's Day gift from my older son. That 655 started with a strike against it - I didn't like it's 'look' in the catalog.

Have you ever just said 'No, thanks!!" after finally fondling that new Buck? I really was worried about my reaction after waiting so long for the 408 & 419 Kalinga Pros... but they were even more than I had imagined. I just wonder what Bucks have really not been what you wanted? Please, even if you hate it, don't mention the 110 - everyone loves that one!

Theres a little twist on that...Many Buck fans didnt like the china Bucks....Till they got one. That was me till I bought one of the new multi tools! I had more use for that than anything I have ever carried in my pocket..But to answer your question every Buck I cant think of a single Buck Ive had IN MY HAND I did not like or think it was a good well made blade....Ive seen pics of a few that looked weird to me tho.

Clam packed Revolution. Had I handled it before I bought it, my answer to your inquiry would be "no".

And, like Bucksway, I ended up buying a Hilo (before I knew it was made in China) that same day from the same store.
Regardless of where it was made, I ended up really liking it...but gave to a sheetrocker I knew that uses it all the time for work.

Wow, me too! My revolutions had the Post Falls grand opening etch though so my boys have 'em in their collections. The Hilo now resides with my deer hunting pal. :D

Other than that though, I've never met Buck knife I didnt like ;)

My son Richard got mine to give to a Buck collector he works with....I did not mind cause I wanted the one that had the LED light...I just havent picked one up yet. I did not know any had the grand opening etch on them...Did all of Bucks products get the etch?? I did see a cool 111 [I got it for Dave] that had a etch that was really elaboret, 1 of 50 as I recall...

Gads, I did get a PRC-made Buck - an Extract that was a kind gift from a friend. It was on my desk last fall when my older son, the knife & gun nut, visited. He picked it up - admired it - had to ask, "My Christmas - or birthday?" (He was 38 in January.). I just let him have it. He loves multi-tools - I started him and his younger brother on Vic SAKs as kids. He still loves pocket knives, although he can't always carry them - he is a captain (pilot) for a large state-wide bank - and occasionally has to airline home. He is not as picky about PRC-made stuff.
