I work in a machine shop, and the other day, I got a bunch of gunk in my mini-grip, so I went over to our lubricant shelf, and grabbed a red can (I figured it was the lube that is in a very similar can) to spray the pivot. After spraying, I noticed that the action was much cleaner than usual, and the blade would freely rotate (I keep my screw pretty tight, so it has never freely rotated before). The spray was called "QD Electronics Cleaner", and you can buy it at NAPA etc. The spray dries immidietly, but leaves a thin film in the action that lubricates amazingly without attracting dust! I now use it on all of my knives, and just thought I'd share it with you guys too.

Just to let you know, this spray does not actually lubricate the action, it just cleans the snot out of it so that it can move freely.

Very interesting. Does it aid corrosion resistance?

(Hey Cougar, you gots a new ride! Spiffy.)

It says on the back of the bottle that it protects sensitive equipment from corrosion. It leaves a very thin film kind of like PTFE spray does. I have not experienced any rust since I started using it about six months ago!

Yup, that's the stuff. You're right, it doesn't contain any lube, maybe hit the action with this, then hit it again with your lube/anti-corrosion spray. I know that it does an awsome job at cleaning out old lube that has turned sticky or broken down.

I want some of whatever it is you guys are smokin'.....did nobody take the time to go to my referenced link and see that it's for a "COMBINATION" cleaner and lube?????
The one referenced originally (in the first post) is not.....

"QD ELECTRONIC CLEANER effectively removes contaminants from electrical and electronic components. Contains no chlorinated solvents and evaporates quickly. Harmless to most sensitive plastics and leaves no residue."

Neither is yours a lube,
go look at the link i put up, its close to the msds sheet of a product.

There is no lubricating value to this product.

Btw, it is the same CRC product, just different can label.

CRC also makes White Lithium Grease (red label) for metal to metal lubrication. Haven't tried it on my knives yet, but theres always a first for everything.

nice idea on the cleaner.

as for a super lube, that dries and a corrision protector...eezox.com

read the salt spray tests...some of you use it i'm sure...protects polished surfaces real well. it will be at the blade show in the kits and onthe rags of some of the best makers. $.02

I bought some CRC "Electrical Precision Lubricant" tonight at Home Depot, and it made my Ares very smooth. We'll see how it lasts though.
