I Found It!

Much to my surprise, I found my Spyderco rescue knife this morning. The knife has only been missing for about two years. I also found my Gerber rescue knife. I thought the Gerber had been given to a paramedic friend of mine so this was a double surprise.

I figured that the Spyderco had gone on a long vacation with it ending up in somebody's pocket, never to be seen again. So, it's not lost, just missplaced. :)

Anyone else find a missing knife after a long period of time?

A cheap knife got lost on me for like a month, accidentally found it. Other than that I don't tent to lose track of my knives. More importantly, where did you find it?

Congrats on the find! I love that feeling. It ranks up there with "finding $23 in the pocket of a jacket you haven't worn in 3 years" in my experience.

Also, I lost my EDC of 8 years last month. Could you check where ever you found yours again and see if mine is hiding there? I can't find it anywhere on my end :P.

That’s always a good feeling. I lost a cheap little folder once, I looked everywhere for it and eventually gave up. I went fishing one day and found it in my tackle box. By the time I found it I gave it away because I started buying decent knives of better build quality.

I’m pretty obsessive about my better knives and don’t usually misplace them so easily.

I found a couple of knives I had misplaced. I was doing an office move and the new location was not knife friendly, so I took my desk knives home. I thought they were in a box along with everything else. My wife unpacked the box and put things away, and I thought she had lost them or threw them out with the box.

Turns out I had put them in an inner zipper pouch of a bag I used to carry to work, specifically so I would not lose them, and then promptly forgot that's where I put them. I was going to use that bag for a carry-on on a flight about a year later, and when emptying the pockets out before packing, I found them.

They were not expensive or even especially cherished knives, but I hate losing a knife so I am glad they turned up.

where was it sabre - we need to know so we know the first weird place to look next time we lost something.

not a knife, but I lost my college class ring for close to a year. found it when the wife decided we needed to rearrange the bedroom. it was under her dresser. I have no idea how it got there. I don't go near that part of the room....ever

Other than a cheapo I lost riding my friends go-kart, I lost my beloved Leatherman Micra for a month or so.
I was still carrying it every single day at the time and it had found it's way into a hole in a couch cushion, eventually I sat on some kind of lump in the cushion and of course that's what it was.

Alright, because more than one person ask where I found it, I'll tell you.

The house we live in has a very small spare bedroom. No one ever sleeps there, we just use the room as extra storage space. I found the Spyderco on top of the chest of drawers in that spare room. The strange thing is that my wife and I have been in that room numerous times over the years and never have seen the knife sitting there before. What makes it even more strange is that I am the only person that has anything to do with that piece of furniture. Everything on it, or in it belongs to me.

Just weird.

You may be right. The knife was given to me by a firefighter. He found it in the middle of the road when they were on a call.

For some unknown reason, this knife has always been hard to keep track of. It might be cursed. Who knows? I have been planning to purchase the orange handled version as a replacement. Maybe it would be easier to keep around.

I found a missing one after about a year. It was fairly expensive, so what a great feeling.

I have lost, found after a couple of years, and lost again my CRKT Eros (the old titanium version). It's been washed quite a few times, I wonder if it's with the missing socks that the laundry machines eat?

Apparently I'm really good at losing knives that weigh next to nothing.

The washer doesn't eat those, little aliens use them to fuel their ship :D

Many times. I had a Merlin that went on regular sabbaticals for up to a year at a time. The last I saw of it was when I put in my pocket heading to work over two years ago. I reached into an empty pocket later that day and now I think she's moved on for good.
