First let me say hi to all you guys Ive been out of the loop for a couple of months or so as I sold my house and the house I intended to buy fell through so last minnute we moved in with my wifes grandfather. pretty big, pretty nice house, and so far a pretty ok experience with grandpa. and grandpa refuses every attempt I make to pay rent, so Im saving my money or trying to but there is so many knives out there.
Anyway my dad collects farm toys and asked me to go on his yearly trip to dyersville Iowa for the national farm toy show. I dont really collect and I havent been to the show in 10 years or so, but I decided it would be a good chance to spend some time with dad and get away from our screaming 18month old. then the the thought poped into my head, at knife shows you pay a premium for knives and can pick up other junk for cheap. So I though this equation would work in reverse maybe some farm toy guys would have a knife of 2 laying around for cheap. Turns out I was right. Along with the toy show we hit a few antique shops on the ride home and made out pretty good there too as they usually have knives over priced. All the fixed blades came with sheathes and none of them are really mint except the the graphillets. either way I made out with everything here for around $100 bucks.
Next question the white knife that looks like a frontier knife I got for $5 bucks and says ranger on the shield and ranger on the stamp and prov usa on the stamp as well. anyone know if this knife was made by imperial for ranger? oh well just thought I'd share my jackpot and its good to be back.- Joel

hi, the ranger is a colonial brand knife from the70s or 80s,.I also collect fish knives, can you show a pic of the red one and who made it.Also is it a 5 inch closed one, thanks

the red knife is a towika, I think, Republic of ireland. 4and a half inches closed probablly use it for a trader. - Joel

but I decided it would be a good chance to spend some time with dad

Lots of us buy off ebay, but the way you did it it is like the good old days before the internet, no elimination of the competition just a pleasant drive with your Dad. For that reason those knives will mean more to you and will be filled with the memories of your trip.

Thanks for remminding us of better days.

I like the second knife from the top on left, they are nice.

Regards Tim
