I found some hunting pictures that were taken back in the seventies. In this first picture my oldest son (he's 37 now) is pictured holding this little two point's head up. Notice where I hit him with the arrow. I was using a Jennings Split-T bow.

This picture is of the same deer later that evening when we got home. I had my horses and we were planning to make an overnighter out of the trip. You can steel see the fletching of the arrow to the left of the deer's head.

Hunting2.jpg

This is of one of my dogs at the tree at a field trials. He's the good lookin one just left of the tree in the foreground.

And, the final picture is of my four hounds fighting a bobcat on the ground. The dog on the left in front was one of the grittiest hounds I ever had.

Yea, I was wearing a straw hat because it was the end of August.

I sure miss those days. I sure put that old Dodge pickup through hell. It was/still is a great life.

Old dodge trucks were damn near indestructible. I used to have a late 70's Ram that me and my buddies called the Blue Goat. Thing had close to 300,000 miles on it when I sold it and still going strong despite all the things that a bunch of 17-19 year olds could do to it.

Carolina - mine too! I didn't have 300K miles on it; but I had 150K hard mountain miles - bear, coyote, bobcat, deer and lion hunting and trapping over a 15 year period. I bet I replaced the drivelines at least three times (It may have been more.).

When the government started regulating it to death, I phased hound hunting out. I sold two of my dogs and the other two died of natural causes. I also ran sight hounds for a few years. And, I ran several trap lines at this same time, for a number of years. I still have some of my traps. About seven years after these pictures were taken, my 10 yo son got a Rhabdomyosarcoma in his head/neck. For the next two years, I didn't get to the woods even one time. And, I also sold my horses and equipment. But, thanks and praise to God that my son lived and is now almost 30 years old.

Great pics. Love the hounds!
Can I be the ignorant one and ask what a Split T bow is?

yea it's pretty much over here too. but i sure miss the sweet sound of those hounds baying. it was amazing how you could pick the individual hounds out, and tell what
they were up too.

Nice Pics, Teague!

I'm the same age as your son, and looking at that pic of him with his two pointer made me think of old family albums. Thanks!

Great pics Teague!!! You gotta love the 70's sideburns and square photo's with rounded off edges. What a great shot on that deer, I've NEVER seen one hit in the forehead like that before.

Head shot with an arrow:eek: I would have had it stuffed and left the arrow in place and told everyone I was aiming for it:p:D

Awesome pics & I dig the muttonchops
