Hooray! Due to my personal caregiving situation, I have had to lock up all sharp things and insulin syringes.

I have been trying out appropriate Khukuris that I could carry on my side for use in the kitchen.

I have tried the JKM-1, Kumar Karda, 12" AK, 12" Sirupati. None seemed to do the job properly or fit my hand quite right.

BUT, the 12" Bura AK Blem recently purchased is perfect! Each knive handcrafted appears to have a SLIGHT difference. This beauty, once cleaned up for kitchen use, didn't even have to touch the blade, as it was VERY sharp, sliced and diced through chicken and sausage to make a gumbo, like it was going thru butter. Great knife. MY KITCHEN TOOL!

Federico swears by his 12" AK, Pappy seems to be tickled with his, and you're obviously pleased with yours. It just happens I've got one on its way to me, now more'n ever I'm itching to get my hands on it and try it out. Anybody else got any comments on 12" AK I'd like to hear what you think of them. Not you Jim, I know what you'll say; "12 inches ain't no khuk".:D

I got one a few months ago, a Sanu blem, for the Mrs to use in the garden. She loves it. If I didn't have the Pen-knife I'd be stealing it for hunting.

LCS, I knew you would love one of them. They will do a lot more work than most people I have heard talk about the smallest AK. Sarge will love the 12" AK too you wait and see. I'll check out the 12" Siru. some of these days. I won't miss it because I have never had one but, if I had to give up the AK I would sure miss it something terrible.
Very easy to carry and oohhh such a worker.

Jim, you are wrong this time. No one can say that these little hummers made by Bura aren't khuks. The right blade for the right job. Ain't that right Uncle Bill?
:) :D :D

This 12" AK is the second one I ordered for myself. The first one was made by S.B rising sun mark. It was fairly sharp, but couldn't get it any sharper. Handle didn't quite fit right in my hand. Pommel dug into my hand. Did some filing to correct that, but never really felt comfortable with it.
Now the Bura 12 " (my second for me) although a blem, felt comfortable right off and didn't have to touch the edge at all. Excellent knife. Appears to be the same quality as yours.

I'll keep working on the S.B. (forget who S.B. is) Still a fine knife, but need to hone my sharpening skills. I'll eventually figure out the handle fitting , also. :)

12 K!!PA-TOOY!!:mad:It's ok for the kitchen or the LADIES!:D NEXT THING YOU GUYS WILL SAY IS IT'S "CUTE"!You all will have to excuse me! I hafta go puke!!:mad:Grumble,12"K!

Hoorah! My little 12" AK by Sher made it just in time to roll out to the field with me for some training with our Army counterparts. I honed it up nice and sharp, "de-fanged" the handle, as Rusty would put it, and grayed the blade really nice with a lemon juice rub ala Federico.
It got wrapped with olive drab "100 mile an hour tape", and rode around out in the woods tucked inside the left side of my load bearing vest with the top of the handle just poking out so I could draw it shoulder holster style.

Great little knife. I figured I'd like it, and I figured right. My Pen Knife is a bit more capable (if you don't have a Pen knife you don't know what you're missing), but this little booger is no slouch.

The knife was a gift from Uncle Bill in thanks for the sacred relic I brought him back from Afghanistan. He knew I'd make a fuss about that, so he "pulled rank" on me, but I'd like to say here publicly that if any thanks were owed it was me owing him. I'm sure others of you know just what I mean.

The icing on the cake? The little AK arrived precisely on the eve of my 44th birthday, offsetting the gloominess of spending my birthday in the field tired and filthy. A great knife from a great guy, and it couldn't have come at a better time.:)
