I found this beauty yesterday...

So yesterday I went out to buy a pair of gloves. As I was a bit disappointed with the leather gloves I saw on the stores I went to a shop that sells police material to buy some "police style" leather gloves. There are a few knives over there too, but at very high prices and almost all of them discontinued... but then I saw this beauty

One thing is to see the knives on the net, comparing prices and steels and all that stuff we use to do. Other thing is having the knife just in front of you... ask to hold it and feel its power on your hand. Damn it!
I had to bring HER home! So I guess my family and friends aren't getting too many presents from me this year, as I immediately run back to the train station after blowing my budget for the day!

Does anyone else likes this knife?

I've always liked the looks of that one...I've just never had a use for one, especially at the prices they used to go for.

It's a damn fine looking knife anyway, though.

Yeah just like me. But when I saw it in front of me... handling it killed me. It's just so damn good looking. I love scuba knives but this one won't definetly dive with me! I'm still thinking if I'm going to use it in the woods or not. Hard decision...

Nice knife, but it seems odd that a "scuba" knife would have a stacked leather handle and leather sheath?

Is that knife an SOG?

Peter

I've always liked those and passed them up several times thinking that SOG would always offer them.

Obviously ... didn't work out that way!

Discontinued and value jumped.

Beautiful awesome knife ... I should have grabbed several of the SOGs' in that series ten years ago when I should have.

I noticed that SOG also made the replica in a limited edition damascus model. very nice...

That damascus model is really rare I think. One of those must worth a bunch of $$$€€€£££

This is a really sweet knife, not super steels or materials, but really nice to handle, you really feel its purpose: stab, slash, chop, saw!

That SOG series is the real series. Excellent knives made in Seki, Japan. Now they also offer great knives (like the one I have in my pocket, the Visionary I, made in Seki, Japan) but also some less great ones at not so cheap prices.
It was great to find this one, a real classic to my collection (I don't really collect, I use my knives... still not sure about this one...)

Love that handle. Looks like stacked wood, but what are the white rings made of?

Yeah the handle is really nice looking. It looks like wood but it's leather. As for the white rings, good question, no idea what they're made of...

Yes. I seen it in one of my Sog catalogs a few years back. It is very nice, but no way I could touch it for what Sog was asking. Do you mind me asking, what did you give for it ?
I would also like to add, a lot of Sogs are now coming from Taiwan and thats a shame. I see yours is from Seki Japan, same as my Seal Pup, they are defiantly better made out of Seki Japan. Very nice find!

You're right about the Seki vs Taiwan, I have SOG knives from both and you can really tell the difference, specially when you put the knives to a more intense use.
For this one I spend around 230€ (that is around 300USD). The last MSRP was 310USD I think and here in Europe the knives are always much more expensive than in the USA (and the 2nd hand market doesn't really exist). If I think rationally I could have bought other knives that I could put in use, but this was just a passionate decision... as I told before one thing is to see the knife on the internet, the other thing is to have the baby in the hand...
