Given the trademark stamp and Wikipedia information - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keen_Kutter - the head was likely made between 1900 and 1940 by the Simmons Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri before they were bought out by Shapleigh Hardware Company in 1940. They are considered collectible according to the Wikipedia page (see above).

I was kind of wondering how rare they are and if anybody else had seen one and also who made them for King Kutter.

It's "Keen Kutter" not "King Kutter," and it's a trademark name of a line of products (including axes) manufactured by the Simmons Hardware Company. Again, that information (including a link to a PDF that outlines a short history of E.C. Simmons and Co) can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keen_Kutter.

Define what you mean by "rare" without asking about how much your specimen may be worth...because that would be a violation of forum rules http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...MBERS-Please-read-this-WHAT-IS-MY-KNIFE-WORTH. :)

I know it's keen kutter my phone auto corrects....simmons didn't manufacture the axes they just branded them.
I am looking to find out if anyone else has seen a kon kave because I haven't that is what I mean by rare....! I'm not looking to get your appraisal or anyone elses. Thank you very much

I haven't seen a Kon Kave before so I'd guess it's uncommon. It's worth whatever someone will give you for it.

^^- that's true. Can be the rarest axe around, but if nobody else cares it's worthless. Found that out the hard way a couple of times.

There is a lot of keen kutter in this area (ar. mo. ks. ok.) but haven't seen one of these, thought maybe they were more common in another area.

Its uncommon, not rare. It will be worth a little more having the Kon Kave stamp on it.

Some of the Kon Kave I have seen on the internet were of the "Kelly Sunken Head" type axe. I am sure those would bring a premium. Probably a very large one.
