I got one of these at a gun show about a year ago. It was funny because the guy selling it was a knife guy(albeit an old timer) and he was asking $70 for the thing. I'd been thinking of getting one but not at that price. I knew how much they are worth on the market and easily proved it by miracle of iPhone. I felt bad because he had a few and he claimed he had paid a lot more for them. I've dealt with him before and he is not a high ball haggler type. I think I gave him a bit more than $40 even though they run around around that BNIB. The point being is I kind of put this knife in a specific and somewhat unusual(for me anyhow) class. Disposable emergency. I really don't think of knives as weapons but the Kobun kind of suits the roll. It's there if needed, very capable and if it gets lost or broken or whatever else happens to a knife after the battle, big deal. I must emphasize, this is not something I actually do. It is how I view the roll of this particular knife. In reality, mine does the same as yours did. Sits in storage and comes out once and a while to play with.
