Hey y'all, so I'm pretty new here!

So I recently got into knife collecting, and god forbid I hate low quality knives so from the get go, I'm already shelling out 550-1000 per knife, and I have 13~ now...in a matter of 4-5 weeks. So a while back I was watching Jim Skelton (we all know and love him) and he broke out a Direware S90 with a recurve blade, I immediately wretched, I hated the shape of the blade, a tanky knife to me should have a simple blade, it was made for field use after all, it only makes sense to have a tanky simple blade. The other thing I hated was that it had no flipper tab, the only knife I've EVER tolerated not having a flipper tab was the Redencion, or it's mid tech cousin the 228, because they were smooth and light and comfy in the hand. So I started furiously researching S90s and came across the S90 variant that had carbon/Ti frame AND the hawk bill shaped blade. Needless to say I splurged on it quick out of fear someone was gonna nab it. A hefty 1145, but I took it like a champ and is expecting it soon. My question for y'all is...is the DireWare S90, specifically the variant I bought worth that money? Should I be expecting a "grail knife", or some just hunk-a-junk that barely flips open?

It's probably going to be a hunk of junk, and you should probably give it to me for Christmas

@cavallaris7 Hahaha! Gotcha, if I end up not liking it, I'll put it up for sale/trade and try to notify you first then ;) I've always had a love hate relationship with over built knives. If it's overbuilt and good? I'll love it forever, but if it's bad (cough cough Andre De Villiers Butcher), then I'll hate it for life and can't carry it...

Haha I like my ADV Butcher, but I can't exactly pay over $500 for my knives. The most expensive one I have so far is a Gayle Bradley Tac 1 custom lol. I want to try a Shirogorov soon though, and a Direware is on my bucket list. Make sure you update on how you like it!

If you go for tank knives, why not getting the tankest one? Solo is a bit bigger and the older versions are even thicker. As much as I fall in love with Direware solos, Eric is constantly trying to thinning out the solos recently and I have to dig deep to find an older version to fill my greed.

As far as the price, I have no problem shelling out 20% more on these highly sought after models. But man for someone get it from the mail directly from Eric yesterday and trying to sell the knife double priced the next day? I am not that desperate. "Thanks. No thanks."

Sounds like my story. New into knives, getting in deeper faster than quicksand on a hot day. I received my Hyper 90 recently and it flips like a dream! Fits in my hand like it was molded to my fingers and looks like a work of art from every angle. Yeah, I think you're going to like it!2.jpg

Roger that, yeah, I coughed up nearly 1200 for it, and it's not even a Solo, I mean half an inch don't really matter much but I do like tanky knives to be in the 4" range, I'll live it with haha, I can't wait for it to show up and see what the hype's all about!
