When Ed Caffery made Prarie Storm I hesitated when I should not have and Senator got the prize. This time I jumped very quick.
This knife is incredible in every detail and a true work of art, and the sheath is equal in quality to this knife. It feels so good in the hand. Now I need to get a display case nice enough to hold it.
Ed should also teach knife packaging lessons. It would have been impossible for any harm to come to it in transit, even by the postal system.
I have a project working between Ed Caffrey and Gene Osborn that will begin soon, It will be a Great Project, Just wait and see.
If you get a chance to get one of his knive Do not hesitate.
Here are a few specifics on the Bowie "Wind Song".
Blade Length: 10 1/4"
Construction: Through tang. San Mai (52100 core with 1084/15N20 damascus overlays) The damascus overlays are a twist pattern that was split down the middle and turned "inside out", then forged to the core.
Fittings: "S" guard and butt cap are hot blued mild steel, with a hammered copper insert in front of the guard, and a copper spacer between the handle material and butt cap. The finishing "nut" is also hot blued mild steel, and there are two nickel silver pins with rounded heads in the butt cap.
Handle: Presentation grade (stabilized) European olive.
Grind: Flat with convex edge
I was unable to get an exact weight, as my scales are currently broken. But my best guess would put it in the 17-18 oz. range.
