I got a job!

So, got a late night email yesterday from a whitewater rafting buddy asking if I wanted a temporary job helping to build a cabin in a very beautiful and ideal location, but it is also extremely secluded. This morning I stuffed all the goretex and beater fleeces (and blades) I could in the trusty ol' Lincoln Mark VIII and headed through the mountain passes towards northern Idaho. When I left Boise it was 60 degrees (at 6 in the morning) 10 miles north it started spitting copious ammounts of rain. 10 miles after that rain turned into rain and snow, and heavy clouds seeped into the saddles and the canyons. 10 miles north of that rain and snow turned into just snow. I'm at the half-built cabin now with 4 inches of pure white snow on the ground. Saw an elk being persued by a few wolves in a field and hit the hot springs for a post-work winter dip. Not a bad first day on the job... and there's a chance it may become permanent. Sweet, huh!

Is it a log cabin, or something a bit more modern? I dream of being able to build a log cabin Alone In the Wilderness style, nevermind getting paid to do it, and having a hotspring for after a days work. Jealous.

Congrats on the job too, it's slim pickins out there, I know...

pic???? and sounds like a fun time, as long as you can handle the cold to come haha

awesome!!!!

A few years back I helped with a remote home building site- seriously remote. I spent a couple months 4-6 days a week hammock camping with open fire cooking, even had to pack in water until the well got drillled.

Seriously fun experience. enjoy and report!

Congrats on the job:thumbup: Sounds like too much fun to be called a job though:D

Right on, bro - good work finding a job. I hope it turns into something long term for you. Make sure to post some pics, I'd love to see the building in the making.

Great news and congrat! Sounds like hard work with lots of dividends. Enjoy it and I hope that it works out for you.
