I got a new AK today

Motionman2 and I went up to the gun store today to pick up my Glock 30SF. While there I found an AK that I just had to buy. It's an Arsenal SLR-106F.
I got to try out Mm2's yesterday and figured if I ever found one (slim to nil chance, I figured) I'd buy it.

Here it is with my other AKs. :D

Eli -- Yeah, I could have ordered a NMSFNO & LENMSFNO, but I really wanted an AK that went BANG! It's a .223, so I can afford to take it out and have fun more often than a .308 would have allowed. I also grabbed 6 20 rd. mags just in case the cheep beer hits the AC. (Schmidt hits the fan)

dobywon - The pumpkin AK is from the Creek. I always try to grab a pumpkin handled blade at the Fall shoot since my b-day follows it just 3 weeks later. The TH/JSC w/ old-school brass tubes was ordered during the initial offering. Both are still mint as I use my RUCK when practicing zombie deanimation moves. :D ;)

Is the Glock 30SF the same size as the 27 or 26. I have a Glock 30 and its slightly bigger than the 27. I dont know the difference in the 30 and 30SF.
 
Nice AKs.

I may or may not have had an SLR106 just like that at one point...:D

The Barnul nickle plated 5.56 may or may not have run very nicely out of it...:D

How do you like the 30SF? I may or may not have shot the 21SF frequently and liked it.

I'm not sure how the 30 compares in size to the 26 or 27. The 30 SF is ~3mm shorter from backstrap to trigger than the 30. I'll be putting her through the paces tomorrow, so after a few hundred rounds I should have a good feel for it. It will ride IWB as soon as I get a nice leather sheath....prob. a VersaMax2.

No problem!

Have you ever shot the standard 30? Let me know what your impressions on the 30SF are - it's one that I've been eying but haven't actually handled. If the 30SF to the 30 is the same as the 21SF to the 21 then it should be a good fit/feel.

Find as many of the Arsenal 5.56 mags as you can as well. :thumbup:
 
Arsenal makes the best. Solid buy!

I have a pre-ban Polytech underfolder. I need to get another AK with a stock. The folders suck to shoot from the cheek.
 
Haven't shot the 30 (or the 30SF yet), but handling both of them side by side I wanted the slightly shorter grip for my smallish hands. I believe the 21 vs. 21SF is them same, with the slightly shorter trigger reach.

I got 6 mags, Motionman2 got 4 and the store has no more. :(

Well you have a sweet rifle and im sure the 30SF will be great. I would like to feel one. I love the standard 30, but it would be interesting to compare the SF. Thank you for your insight.
 
Get out to the range with that rifle and put a few hundred rounds through it. There have been issues with both feeding and canted sights on the 106/107 series. Hopefully you got a winner.

Not to harsh on your purchase; I own several Arsenals and am pleased with them. Just make sure you don't have to send yours back to make it right.

You'll like the sf, Drew. I have a 21sf and that thing is a SWEET shooter. Here's a pic of it after it was customized:

Molded feed ramp, 1911 grip angle, even thinner than the normal sf frame. Fantastically handleable, and still Glock reliable.

Did you know that Schlitz has reintroduced their classic 1960's formula.

I felt my stomach grumble a little just typing that. :D :D
