a Benchmade 506. Up to this point I have mostly been buying and using lower end knives, Buck,Schrade,CRKT. WOW this Benchmade is awesome! Now I know what all the fuss is about. I have only had this knife for 3 hours"it is a Valentines gift from my wife"but it is already my hands down favorite. I think I am in love, and not with just my wife.:) Anybody have any words of wisdom for a new Benchmade owner?

My advice would be to stop looking at knives and don't lurk the forums. Your on a steep path. If you don't check yourself, soon you will be in the same position as many of us here. First it's a Benchmade, then a few knife shows, and then maybe a Sebenza will be the object of your affection. Then you'll be just like a lot of the fools around here (me included), spending thousands of dollars on knives that you don't need and trying to hide/justify the expense to your lovely wife. You'll be working overtime to save up to buy that "one last knife" that you just can live without. Forget about fixing up the house! You'll need that money to fuel your knife habit. But I fear you've gone too far, you'll probaly have to find out on your own. Welcome to the maddness!:D  ;) :p

I can stop anytime I want...really I can...really. But if one BM is good, and I know that it is, then two must be better, right?;)

Oh no, not true. A Victorinox One Hand Trailmaster will cause you to SPURN your new love.

;)

Eventho' I've been "into" knives for MANY years, I got my first Benchmade folder only almost a month ago...Now I have 4 of 'em. My all-time favorite folder WAS the Al Mar SERE 2000...I traded a SERE 2000 for a Benchmade 805...The "805" is now my all-time favorite folder..

There's no end in sight.:D.

My name is Thomas and I'm a knifaholic.....errr is that a benchaholic...errr uh,

Yeha RIGHT....you can stop anytime....

Thomas

You're just doomed. Benchmade makes their knives too well. So do too many other trusted companies. You're a doomed, damned person. Accept it just like the rest of us have and enjoy your addiction.

;)

First the knife bug bites then the sharpening bug bites. I am always buying knives or chasing that elusive super edge.

Grateful....believe what they are saying. I did the same. Bought a Spyderco Ladybug.....nice, but to small...I'll just go ahead & put that one on with the car keys. O.k, pockets M-T, must buy a new knife. Huh, a cute CRKT Kiss money clip/pocket knife. Worked great for a week. Aaahhh, too small....need something bigger. Huh, Spyderco huh....well, pretty much bought around 60 diiferent ones through out the years. Benchmade are great you say???? huh.....o.k, I'll take this one & hummm, that's ones nice too & that one & that one...Griptilians? O.K, 7 of those....until I had about 50 different ones. Masters of Defense huh...they look cool....must try out 4 of those (learned my lesson on those...they are garbage!) O.K, out with the trash......hmmmmm Protech's......cool! Bought 6 of those......bored....what to buy next.....Kershaw's.....12 of those. Camillus Dominator...nice but....Yawn......bored again......Microtech's....well, there kind of expensive. But wow, really like the LCC....must buy 6 more. O.K....E-Bay super sale....blew off a good amount of knives...made alot of dough......now what....have money & it's burning a hole in my poccket.......yeah, my pocket that wants a new knife....must start looking for a new knife. Lord knows I don't have any & need a new one........a Microtech ATCF TERZULOA? MercWorx? Sebenza?
Aaaaahhhhhh! The madness NEVER ends! There are just soooo many beautiful knives out there that it is hard to stop.

I'm still in my never ending pursuit of the best E.D.C knife for myself. Don't know if I'll ever find it.....but it is sure fun looking....& OUCH expensive!

Cheers & good luck!
