Knifeworks came through for me again today. I checked my front porch and found a box with my latest order in it. I got a Benchmade BM551-ORG. Actually, I got two of them. I gave the spare to my wife. Here's a pic of the new knife. I'll try it out as an EDC for a few days and then decide if it will become my regular carry knife or if I go back to the Kershaw Blur. My first impression is that it is very nice (and VERY sharp). Can't wait to carry it for a bit and see how it does.

Just a side note... the lighting in my office sucks so the orange color is not very accurate in my pic. A closer sample would be here...

Congrats on your new Grip! I think that it will not let go of it's EDC spot without a fight. ;)

Great knife!! Lucky you snagged them, as knifeworks is outta stock. I would probably donate less knives to the woods if I invested in orange handles! Is your blade coated, or is that just the angle/lighting??

I'm going to have to get the D2 Grip and the Orange handle Grip and make a Franken Grip, now that would me my Grip of choice.

Just the reflection from the flash makes it look that way. The pic on knifeworks is more accurate.

UPDATE - Well, I carried it when I went out today. Here's my initial impression. I thought the grip was too thick when I opened the box, but when I carried it, it was not a factor. The weight is fine. It is no feather, but it did not bother me at all. My only concerns are that the clip did not grip my pocket as tight as I'd like and it is a little larger than I had expected. The clip is an easy fix. It is removable and I can easily put a very slight bend in it to make it tighter. I think my next purchase will be some flavor of the Mini-Griptilian and that may end up becoming my new EDC. I do really like the feel of the knife and the action. I just want something a little smaller. I definitely am glad I bought it and it will get carried occasionally, but I might go a little smaller for my EDC.

If you are going to get a mini Grip, I highly suggest a mini Ritter :D There is even a new pink mini ritter now :)

Thanks, but I'll pass on the pink. I like the bright colors. I have 2 orange handled knives, 2 green handled knifes and 1 red handled knife but I don't think I want pink. :p

I have considered the Doug Ritter version though. I like the S30V steel. That might be what I buy.

I would highly recommend the mini ritter grip. It's a great knife and that's been my EDC of late.
