Hello all, I just wanted to tell you guys that I got a new knife, It is an Al Mar Shadow IV, I have never seen one of these before except in my friends gun shop. He has had it in there for years and I decided that I would by it today. He gave it to me for a steel from the original price he was asking.
I was wondering if anyine has experience with this knife. Thanks guys.

DEV-I don't know much about that blade, but anything with Al's name on it is top notch. If I'm not mistaken the Shadow is a Chris Reeve/Al Mar collaboration, which just means good and better. There are others on BF who can elaborate more. If I'm right and it is the CRK collaboration, you ought to put a post on the Chris Reeve forum-you'd get more feedback. But congratulations! Sounds like you got a great blade at a great price!

pt, I dont think he has the CRK/Al Mar collaboration. I believe the Shadow from a few years ago was a black handled dagger design. I am only going by memory and I could be wrong. Hopefully he has a pic he can post, as I would be interested in seeing this knife.

Hello guys, I dont have a camera to take a picture, so I will try to discribe it.
It is about two inches longer than the Gerber Mk 2. It does have a black handle almost shaped like the F/S dagger.
It has a blood grove down both sides of the blade, suprisingly, it is very light for the size. Hope that clears up some confusion.
Thanks for the help.

Good news is, it's a very good production knife. Bad news is, it's not a Chris Reeve/AlMar collaboration...those were handmade by Reeve and are generally "real REAL good stuff".

Sorry to mislead you, DEV, but hey-look at how many responses you got! Bottom line is that you have a darn nice knife. What kind of sheath did it come with?

Hello guys,
Thats ok ptpalpha, thanks for the help. The sheath is made of leather, it seem to be of fairly good quality. I think I would like to have a Kydex made for it, but dont know where to go. I guess Blade tech could do one, I just hope they know what it is. Thanks for the info Jim.

Chiro75 makes a lot of nice kydex sheaths, from what I hear. He has had some threads on the subject and seems to know what he's doing.
