I received a new knife from Darrell Parent at Mount Sequoia Knives. The knife is called the "Ankando." I believe. It is a neck knife with a 3" blade, which makes it street legal where I live. The blade has a slightly dropped and very pointy point, with an unsharpened swedge. The handle is micarta, polished to a high polish as is the blade. OAL is 7". Construction and fit is very good. As a nice user, they are an excellent value for the dollar. The knife has a few very slight flaws, none of which hurts the utility value of the knife, but for a guy who has only been making knives for a short time the work is excellent. Price was $90. The knife is made of O-1 @ 59-60 Rc. The sheath is kydex. It came to me shaving sharp and as you can tell, I'm a fan. I love a nice knife and I love a good deal.
I ordered a custom fighter from Darrell and I'll write about it after i get it and have had a chance to use it.

Thanks fudo for the preliminary evaluation. Being a new maker feed back like yours is of great value to me. After you have had a chance to use it for awhile be sure and keep me posted on how it performed

Darrell - enjoyed the visit the other day and received the Dakota in the mail Saturday. Have not got to play with it much but looking forward to it. I will be at the gun show in Tulsa Saturday and will look for you there. Hopefully you will have that tactical knife done. If so, bring it with you.

Later,
Kacy

I made stew yesterday using my new knife. I cut a bunch of chicken and a pile of vegetables, peeled carrots and potatoes. The size of the knife made it very handy and the very pointy point was good for cutting the eyes out of the potatoes. I filled up a 3 gallon stock pot. The knife cleaned up easily, made easy work of food prep, and still shaves.
I call that a good first test run.
BTW- Darrell is an easy guy to do business with and has very good customer service.
