A friend at work is retiring. He is our CNC Programmer/Resident Genius and has been a great resource for information and ideas for me. For a machinist who does his own set-ups and programming this is huge.

Now, for some unfathomable reason he feels the need to give me a gift as he retires. So I have brought him a homemade treat or two in the interests of s̶u̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶u̶p̶ just being nice, so what. He brought me this nice old Boker today. How did he know I like me a Boker.

Before he leaves, I would like to find out all I can about this knife (it was his dad's). Since I'm gold, I think I can even ask value (help me mods). I'm not going to accept this knife if it's worth a lot.

Anything at all anyone could tell me would be appreciated.

Nice knife, from what I can see the tang stamp was primarily used 1950-1960's but also through present day on reproductions, Solingen shield so 100% German made, anything on the back of the blade tangs? Trees? Numbers?

Pete

Just want to add I don't believe that's. Reproduction so my guess is 50-60's maybe because it was his fathers he could give you a rough idea when he purchased it. Also it's pattern #2020 a folding hunter, so probably no numbers on the backs of blades but possibly trees

Well, he actually said Grandfather's and then Father's. It's not a reproduction. There is nothing on the back of the tang stamp. Much value?

Value, we all assign value differently, but it's not something you would get big money for or put kids through college, Bokers are odd as prices are always all over the place I've seen Boker 2020 for about $30 in the used and new conditions and seen them for $150, it's a nice knife I would just enjoy using it and appreciate the gesture of the gift.

It is Boker's top of the line knife, and if made today, in Solingen as that one was, would retail for around $100, maybe more. It's a great old high quality user, so sharpen it up and cut something with it! Great looking jigged bone, too.

My buddy just walked out the door to his retirement. He enjoyed reading the responses immensely. Thank you all very much.
