... edition. It is in pretty good condition, isn't it?. Guys, what do you say to this knife? Did Buck sell knives with scrimshaw scales? Dave, I don't think, that it is scratched with a mechanism but you know it better!!

well it looks like it could have been hand done...
i see that there are not intionals or sig.
any one i know would at use intionals
i use DRM at least when i do this.
i am at least this good at what i do on ivory.
this has some mistakes in the lines that sujest hand work but again depth of cut seems to be the same and all lines are same size wide...
off hand i say machine done following a traceing so
done on machine by hand following a trace useing a pantagraph
or is it a pantograph?
either way is is nice looking !

Hi Haebbie,

Very nice knife. Buck did issue these scrimshaw knives. Your Duke 500 CA Condor was issued in 1998. There were four different Scrimshaw handle designs that year. There were also three other Duke 500's with Scrimshaw handles issued in 1997. The 98 issues were 1000 for each of the designs and the 97 issue was 2000 for each of the designs. These knives look even better up close as compaired to the photos. Awesome score!!!!!!!

The Buck family grows. The second bird arrived. If you like to have a look. I like these pseudo scratched knives. ;) :)

Make fun of me; belittle me; if you must... :grumpy: but I HAD a Captain Midnight Decoder Badge back in the '50's...and I watched Captain Midnight and his Secret Squadron (later changed to Jet Jackson - Flying Commando) on my family's B&W TV...

I've been watching eBay for the decoders (I have bids in on two right now) but none really jogs my memory...most are from the radio show; I only knew the TV series...it may even have been the Ovaltine decoder I linked to above; I don't recall now...and I had one of the Secret Compartment red ruby rings!!! Now THAT was uber-cool for the '50's!!! :D

Ah, the memories...Ichabod Mudd and Captain Midnight, in their secret mountaintop headquarters...I don't remember what his jet looked like, though...

Richard Webb, who played Captain Midnight/Jet Jackson, had a cameo on one of the '60's Star Trek episodes...(the one where Kirk was charged with negligent homicide for jettisoning a pod during a solar storm)...

Ha!!! And Goose thinks *HE* needs a life?!?! :p

...Here Ya go Trax...Gotta love that Ovaltine... :p

Here's where I got the Ovaltine decoder pic from - http://cmp.bravepages.com/cc_articles/ovaltine.html

My decoder had letters/letters, rather than numbers/letters, I'm pretty sure...the message would be 5 letter groups, I think...maybe 5 in all...and it was a clue to the next episode, like the site says...and the decoder looked like a cheap combination lock face...I think...

Those decoders on that page all seem to be the radio show decoders...I never heard the radio show (that I remember)...well, I was only born in '49, so it's understandable if my memory is a bit vague about the '40's... :p

That's a comic book pic of the plane, I think...At IMDB (I think), they mentioned that his jet had a rocket tube + a 4-pack jet exhaust...that sounds sort of right, but I'd have to see the model they used to remember it... :(

Make fun of me; belittle me; if you must... :grumpy:

CT, sorry, but that is not my attention. But what is your purpose to recommend me to look for that decoder ring? Or do you "only" want to show me what was uber-cool in the roaring fifties? Please be so kind an tell me YOUR attention.
