My BK16 that is. Seems a lot of people have been showing off their new 16s lately so I might as well too.
It is a think of beauty I tell ya what. Handles need some more girth to them though, have to make some liners for them. The sheath is very well made but I'm not a fan of ubiquitous codura sheath with pocket on the front. I'll be making some kydex for it when I can.
If the BK16 doesn't do it for ya than check out what was in the box next to it.
That's right suckas, grass machete!!! It's beefier than I expected, I can barely flex the blade. But the weight and balance are still good enough the you can still take care of some smaller tasks to an extent. Pair it with a BK16 and you're all set, or a mora if you're on a budget.
The sheath is tight and will hold the blade upside down without the retention strap until you give it a good shake and the it slowly works it's way out. The sheath would suck a whole lot less if they had put the strap down low on the handle and then gave it some holes or something along the side to lash it down with. As it is, it's next to useless. It only has a sucky belt-loop that's way too flexible so you'd have similar issues as the BK2 when trying to draw it, though not as bad since it doesn't lock into the sheath like the BK2 does.
And in case you didn't hate me yet, here's a group pic of all my Ka-Bars
Crappy pics taken with an old droid. Grass Machete, Heavy Warthog, BK14, BK14, BK16, BK2, original warthog, BK9
There'll be a BK10 in there as soon as they hit the shelves.
If it makes you feel better, I was taking a nap on the couch when the brown santa clause knocked on the door and in my excitement I tripped and banged up my knee pretty good. The UPS lady could here me swearing through the door.
