I've been busy with overtime and shop work the past couple of days and haven't had a chance to tell y'all about my new AK.
:D The thing is 25" long 3/4" thick with a 3" belly and weighs in around 5-6 lbs (I don't have a scale but it weighes more than a 5 lb sack of flour). This thing is a monster compared to my 18" AK. I haven't been able to figure out how to post the pic  but I will email it to some one who knows how. I laid it out with a 18" AK and a Kagas Katne so you can get the Idea how big this thing really is. I think I finaly found the knife that I have been looking for(untill the next one comes along);).I've got the wood burner going out in the shop and I'm going to split a little fire wood to try it out so I'll let you know how well it does the job.
Thanks Uncle Bill for getting this big boy out to me so quickly.:)

It's too much knife for this old back but a kid ought to be able to split plenty of firewood with it.

Oh yeah!:D:D

IIRC Uncle Bill weighed one of our AKs in at 82 onces.:D I just wish the belly on mine was 3.5" and that it had a convex edge instead of being hollow ground.

mgnew, are you going to be doing anything to your handle? I plan on changing the shape of mine a little and doing a Tung Oil Finish.:D I'm planning on bringing mine to the next Khonvention in Reno, if you bring yours, we can compair the to and they can have a Reunion of sorts.;)

I know what you mean about the edge, Heber. If it gives you any trouble let me know. I'm almost certain that the hollow ground edge is the result of using modern equipment at BirGorkha.

Man what a wood chopper! I went out to the shop and split some kindling like it was nothing, maple splits to easy,I had to put a piece of plywood under it to keep from splitting through and hitting the floor(agin:(). I've got some pecan on the way so I'll have something else to try it out on, but I don't think it'll be any match for this big boy.
This monster was made by Durba and he did a very good job.
Heber I don't think I'm going to change the shape of the handle, it fits my hand very well but I think I'm going to use a little murphy's oil soap on it and then rub a few coats of tung oil on it to see what's hidden under all that red stuff.
It seemes to hold the edge very well(execpt where I split through and hit the concret floor).
It's a keeper:).

Glad you enjoy it. Suggest though that you use the side or spine on the concrete instead.

Keith, would you mind writting up a short (a few paragraphs) review of your 25" AK? I would love to have a review of it on my site, but right now my mind is drawing a blank when ever I try to write one.... Could be the fact that it's 10:00pm and I'm humgry:D

Nobody can write a decent reveiw at 10PM when hungry. I can't write one at 10AM after steak and eggs.
