I haven't seen any picture threads on this knife yet so I thought I'd start one. I really like this knife it's very cool unless you have a problem with the blade steel or the heft than I would definitely recommend trying one of these beasts out. Feel free to ask me any questions and I'll do me best to answer them.

I've been very impressed with the Chinee Bokers I've had lately. The Federal really raised the bar as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting. I haven't seen this till now. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Boker Plus Kwaiken flipper. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Really, I didn't care for the Federal. Had it for less than a day and ended up trading it.

Because of the quality or the design? I was speaking more in terms of quality. Mine is flawless and I absolutely love GTC's designs so I'm happy with mine, although I can see how it could be a take it or leave it style for some. But I really think Boker is stepping it up with their Asian knives and are bringing in some real quality pieces.

Maybe I'm being unnecessarily snobby, but I wish they were using something better than 440C on these knives. Some of the designs are pretty neat, but I'm having trouble getting past the blade steel.

That has got to be one of the fugliest knives I've seen in years. Combine that with 440C and I would not take one if you gave it to me. YUCK!

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Federal's unique design is what attracted me at first, but when I got her in hand I just didn't dig it for some reason. I think part of it was, ironically, the unique pocket clip. It was just a tad too small and I found it kind of hard placing it in and deploying it from my pocket. I thought about keeping it in the collection for aesthetic reasons, but IIRC, a custom came up that I really wanted and needed to generate some funds.

I've got a Boker Marlowe and the 440C is holding up great. Keeps a good edge and its easy to keep sharp. And I've got my share of all the latest and greatest steels. The small clips are surprisingly effective and overall I've got no complaints about the knife (I've been carrying it daily for awhile now).

I completely agree.

The pocket clip does take some getting used to but it does become easier to operate as it breaks in. My Federal has slipped into the everyday EDC role as I'm waiting on a couple blades to be built and it has done very well. The 440C is good enough for me, very corrosion resistant, takes and holds a pretty good edge and it slices far better than a blade of its thickness should.

If there's a Boker Plus design that you like, give it a shot.

I don't see the problem with 440C on a sub $100 knife. Sure it's not the best steel in the price range, but it's far from the worst and for the construction and design I think it works.
