hi everyone! been giddy (lol) all day long, got my crawford casper custom today
biggrin.gif
- have been carrying my brotther in laws w/micarta handles, but he wanted it back :<(( anyway i traded 2 knives and $$ to a fellow forumite for my Ti handled bead blast kasper folder - and man its a beauty - looks just as described, about 98%, a few minor scuffs on handle (they get scratched anyway) otherwise great, plus some free pocket lint

- i tell ya that CRKT kasper is PRETTY darned close - handle profile is virtually the same, custom is thinner of course, and the action on the custom, just sounds different when ya shut it - an authoritative 'snick' compared to the CRKT kinda click clacking shut, when ya compare the 2 sisde by side - and no dis to CRKT, like i said its pretty damned close for $50, and 1 heckuva knife imho - but of course the custom is head and shoulders above it in quality, fitting, action, liner lock and on and on - and talk about an edge - it is scary sharp - it is also lighter than the CRKT by pretty much, no scale handy, but i would say it would weigh in at 4-5 oz, vs the 7+ for the crkt - only complaint is the belt clip is really stiff/tight, and kinda hard to clip it to your pants, etc but i can live w/that - any of you guys that have a seb know what i mean about the action - the crawford is imho VERY similar in locking - same bank vault shutting sound like a vintage mercedes or porsche door closing vs a dodge dart or ford mustang door - just very well made imho -do i sound happy? well this is gonna be my EDC for at least the foreseeable future, my SIFU is gonna get a rest - will carry the crawford custom and a BM mini AFCK as a utility knife (might carry my seb, would be a classy combo imho, wouldnt it?? i might just put some wear on that seb, havent ever carried it, and ya only live once, right?)or maybe the SIFU, kasper and my matriarch - ready for anything lol- but am just happy as can be - 6 months ago was perfectly happy w/my spydie delica and CS voyager large mod- now have MT,BM,Emerson, REKAT,MOD, this forum has cost me some $$ - but well spent, and i've had a lot of fun too - well will write a thorough review of the crawford in a few days once we get to know 1 another - please excuse me for going on and on, but have wanted 1 of these of my own for a while

..best wishes to all,

I told you so! LOL. You have just come into possession of one of the finest tactical folders on the market today! I have gone through 5 of these in the past couple of years and finally got the one I really wanted, actually wanted all 5 but couldn't afford to feed them all. The one I have has the titanium frame as yours, but is satin finished with stag overlays. I sometimes get it out and just look at it, amazed! Wife thinks I am nutty, and I might just be. Only problem is I have no pocket clip which is why I don't carry it. Have talked to Pat about fitting one and will after the Blade Show.

Anyway, ENJOY that big fine knife you have and know you are prepared when you carry it!

hey calm down now glockman - said was gonna give a rest not retire it lol - it is, imho still 1 of, if not the best - just jazzed up about the custom right now - plan to still carry the SIFU were inapproprite to carry a gun - like the golf course, gym, etc - will prob carry both when biking - so that old SIFU is a long way from retired - i have always liked those darned ksapers, and when i had a chance to carry my bro-in-laws for a while ( let him use my dads old martin guitar) i was hooked, then he wanted it backZ(he still has my guitar, i need to call him on that ), so i got a CRKT version which while close was not the same - then on a whim offered to trade knives w/someone for a kasper on a post in the buy/sell/trade section, and didnt think anyone would reply - well now 2 wks later and 2 knives and some $$ lighter i have it - i bet i have wanted 1 for 8 yrs, $450 a lot for 1 though so never thought i'd get 1 - i think it will be great for situations which dictate concealment - and ya gotta admit its a heck of a fighter evn w/that tiny blade lol - i would take the SIFU or the kasper over the gunting or the matriarch civilian series(no offense sal, have a gunting and a mat) or really most any other tactical knives - BOTH of them fit my hand just right - and the actions? that liner lock on the crawford looks pretty stout, and the rolling lock is supposed to be the best - so na aint gonna retire the SIFU - it is 1 helluva knife, certainly the best fighter thats factory made, not custom, imho
