:(:(:(

After all the hunting, it came in the mail yesterday. The blade was neat.
But...it was HEAVY! I mean "pants draggin down" heavy.

I ..knew... it was 6.5 oz but 6.5 oz is different in print than in person.

Also the scales are VERY thick. Which necessitates REALLY long opening studs. And the "deep carry" clip really IS ...deep... and the studs kept catching my pocket.

But it was PURDY! I really TRIED for an hour or so to like it. I compared it to my RSK and finally decided I would STILL carry the RSK.

The micarta was more pure white than ivory. And polished so it didn't really look as much like micarta as plastic.

There were also some disappointing gaps between bolster and liners.

And....the bolster at the top where you would grip it to remove it is almost too smooth to grip.

But it shore was PURDY!

I wish I had liked it in hand.

No complaints about mine (received last Friday am)
It weighs as a proper Knife should be (just my personal preference, old fashioned?)
Fit and finish are excellent.
Clip is deep carry I agree but no trouble in getting it out to use (jeans, front left pocket and work pants, left cargo pocket)
It is sharp like you would not believe(it has already"bit me"once)
If you like a "large and heavy EDC" I would certainly recommend a PXL.

Sorry to hear you returned it.

I've seen a few of the ivory-Micarta PXL handles and they were clearly ivory in color, not white. Sounds like you really got an "off" one.

I'm waiting for the PXL in Cocobolo or bone.

From the pics I've seen of the PXL, it almost looks like a modern version of the Al Mar SERE folders (large-size) that were common and popular in the 1980's/1990s.
Those had a belt pouch since they were rather thick and sturdy folders.

I guess it's another one of those situations where it's better to find a cutlery shop where you can feel and try out a knife before buying...

Regards,
Mike

I got mine with the Maroon Micarta and I like it very much. I can see where lining up the bolster to the handle scales presents a problem. Sanding on glossy scales does not leave a very attractive finish.

The 3G blade is very well done and is exceedingly sharp. I like the balance of this knife, but it is a bit heavy for me to carry clipped to my pocket. Otherwise I like the knife and will keep it although I will have to send it out to have a belt sheath made.

The one I got matched the scales to the bolster just fine.
It was a gap between the bolster and the liners that disappointed me. Not what I would expect from Fallkniven. I don't know the cause of that mismatch, but I remember reading some article in Blade and its being something to watch for in bolster folders. It was a gap between the bolster and the liner.

dang.

I...really ..... wanted to like it. Shoot, I started the search for it with Peter himself and was pestering dealers before even blueridge got any.

dang.
