Congratulations on the new knife, the 3" non-flipper is a great EDC knife in my opinion. A few clarifications, the 3" XM-18 you have is a Gen 2, those are called "lanyard beads" or zipper pulls (not standoffs which are on the knife) and the reason you have an extra bit for the Hinderer tool is because the 3" XM uses the smaller 1/16" hex screws (as opposed to 5/64" used on the 3.5" and 4").

I assume you have figured out how to properly use the Hinderer tool, if not, let us know.

Enjoy your knife. :)

As has been indicated, there is a wealth of knowlege contained here in both threads, posts and members - Enjoy the Hobby.
Threads on the Knives, sharpening, maintenance, genuine Hinderer accessories....... ALL here.

I just watched your video. You need to read some instructions or watch a take-down video BEFORE playing around with the armorer tool and the pivot. Just saying, slow down and learn about it first.

ok haha i was just excited.. its cool to see an exact copy of my knife:)

That's cool. Just didn't want you to mess it up, or scratch it with the armorer's tool. But you are young, and it is an exciting knife. The blue scale really attracts comments. I thought about changing it for a Ti one if I could find one, but now not so sure. You should replace the stand-offs (the pillars) with anodized blue ones. If you do, make sure they match your 3" size and the correct generation. They really look good with the blue scale. There are instructions on how to do it.

Very cool. Very neat that someone you're age has the drive to save up for a purchase such as this.

Nice score, did not really get the video though. Sounded like you were on your bedroom floor and whispering while hiding from your parents. Why would you start turning the pivot screw with the Hinderer Armorer Tool, was the blade too tight or off center? Making a video of unboxing is well a little, I'll just leave it.

Anyway welcome aboard and I encourage you to read more on this sub forum, there is a wealth of knowledge.
