*edit* By today I mean yesterday, posted the same title on another forum and didn't even think about what I was re-typing :foot:

I've been eye balling some Cases for a little while and decided to pull the trigger. What got me into pocket knives to begin with was some traditional slip joints that were passed on to me, and originally I carried a slippie for a few years before picking up a folder with a lock and clip. All the slip joints I had, were stockman patterns. Well today I came across a navy blue (I'm a sucker for blue) Case stockman for $35. It's blade steel is Case's SS, which I've heard isn't as good as CV but I'll see, so far all 3 blades are really sharp and all the grinds look good. I know there was some concern a while back about Case's quality, well the knife I got today I would have to say I'm pretty impressed with the workmanship, fit, and finish on this knife. I'm pretty happy to have a dark blue slip joint ridding in my pocket, it feels right.

Looks like a good working knife. That long thin clip has become my favorite blade style.

Guard your credit card you are now on the slippery slope.

Nice knife hope you enjoy it.

I've found three places in town, a farm bureau, a gun store, and another store, that carries Case, traditional folders, and other knives, also I live about 30 minutes away form New Graham Knives..... so there's not too much hope, thankfully I work about 6 days a week so I don't get the opportunity to go running around looking for certain models, otherwise my pay check would be gone before it hit my gas tank.

Hi hwpaintballer -

Nice!

I started "collecting" with Case knives - I still love them.

I chose the trapper pattern to collect, so that is mostly what I have now.

I will get my Case knives out and get some pictures of them to post here.

Congrats on your purchase (sounded like a reasonable price for that knife) and take some pictures for us when you have time.

best regards -

Congrat's on your new Case. You really can't go wrong starting this one like this. Good pick. The SS is fine, it's just that some people like the way the CV takes an edge better. If you end up liking the Case brand, pick up CV blade and see what you think. It's all part of the fun, and the madness, around here.

I just thought I would add a piece of trivia. During the Case Collectors Show this weekend, I learned that the trapper has been their most popular knife to collect. The Case museum had lots of interesting stuff that could make even a non-case collector drool... :)

:thumbup:Congrats, The sickness gets worse and then it gets out of control !! But what fun !! Good luck.

That is a nice knife. I have a slimline trapper in the same handle material as your knife. I like it quite a bit. Enjoy

:D I don't think I'll be carrying this one to work with me too much, I don't want to dirty it up too much.

Congrats on your first traditional purchase. You made an excellent 1st choice.

If I lived that close I'd be bankrupt:D

Unfortunately I'm leaving in about a month for college so I'll end up being over 2 hours away, :D the only comforting thought is Smokey Mountain Knife Works will be about 45 minutes away from campus if that.

I have the trapper model in blue and it has been a great edc, carry it use it and buy more.

If that is the 47 pattern, it is one of my favorites; graceful & useful. Mine is SS also; it gets sharp & holds a good edge. CV is very nice also, but an advantage of the SS is that you can drop it in a shirt pocket get it soaked with sweat then rinse it off at the end of the day. From the looks of your boots & hat it looks that like me you might occasionally work up a sweat.

The summer heat has not been nice to me, I do landscaping and remodeling (right now mostly construction), I spend most of the day outside working in blue jeans and boots. :D knowing that the blades are stainless next time I do anything not too dirty, I may bring it along, although I keep a SAK tinker in my back pocket next to my wallet so it would have some competition.
