Must admit it is very simple but does show great quality in what it does. Nice and tight lock up, sharp blade, no blade play.

First thing Im going to do is anodize it blue though for fun. If anyone is interested in this I would be happy to do it for you if you dare!

I know CRK doesnt endorse anodizing of the scales, but I will be a guinea pig for you and post pics when done.

cool knife! Large plain regular model btw.

p.s. whats the hole second to the end for? I assume the first one is the lanyard hole.....whats the next one for?

That hole is usedduring the machining process as a guide hole. Enjoy your new fou8nd friend and use it i have had mine for several months and i don't leave home without it.

You think it will look like this bandit?

Well.....what we did was actually a few steps in the process to achieve the desired results. This process gives a new finish and coating to the knife which is actually harder than the stock bead blast finish.

We call this.......drumroll please.......TACTAN.......short for Tactical Anodizing.

This process accomplishes several things.........
1. Refinishes all surfaces of the scale slabs to factory new finish.....no character marks....new and velvety.
2. Adds a slightly darker coating to the knife through anodization which actually is a coating giving the surface of the knife a hard coat shell which is very thin.
3. Gives a slightly darker tactical color to the knife and best of all.....doesnt show fingerprints...the color stays the same.

Now this surface, being that is on titanium, will still show character marks as you add them. However, it is a working-refinishable surface coating.

As I did this as a guinea pig to my first Sebenza.....and my second which is on the way...... I am truly pleased with the result.

If anyone is interested in getting TACTAN on your Sebbie.......let me know. Its $25 plus $4 return shipping priority mail back to you. Turn around time will be one week for this process.

Here is my new Sebbie with TACTAN coating: (If picture doesnt show up.....go here TACTAN Sebenza and hit refresh

Thanks everyone for putting me onto the great SEBENZA!! :)

no.....the purpose of the tactan was not to give the knife a new color, just a new more protective coating. It did give it a darker gray color though.

Its easy enough to make the knife a purple, gold, etc. if wanted.

Mr. Bandit,
Congratulations on the Sebenza. I got a small plain just a month ago and I carry it daily, especially to the office.

When dressing for more casual occasions, I still grab the O.D.98 Commander customized by Bandit Knives that JohnH sold me.:D

Glad to see you working with the Sebbie. Should be fun.

Stay safe,
Bob

I have a small sebenza coming in.........I shall anodize that puppy blue just for you!

I too am very interested to see the blue anodized small Sebenza of which you spoke, Bandityo. There was talk that if the normal surface were to be anodized, that any color would be murky.

If at all possible, it would be great if another piece of titanium could be anodized the same color -- same current, whatever the anodizing process entails -- to give us a better idea of what coloring really does to Sebbie handles.

If you make the handle smoother than the original finish, I assume that would make the color more true, and less muddled. Will be great to see this subject laid to rest -- perhaps -- when you post your picture. Even if you think it is ugly, would appreciate your posting it. Nobody who reads the whole thread would suspect that your normal look resembles what the final anodizing action caused.

Thanks,

Bugs,

Having done many customizing jobs (see my webpage www.banditknives.com) I can say that titanium can be anodized nicely. It is true that if the surface of the titanium is smooth and polished, you get a brighter and shinier resulting anodizing. However, on bead blasted surfaces like these, you can still get beautiful colors of blues, purples, golds, and when you are lucky greens. Rainbows are also possible.

Actually, this first knife I did was anodized a very deep purple. The color looks just like stated...purple on bead blast which I dont think is quite murky, unless you think that the original stock slabs are murky gray! Its actually a color thats non-reflective. I then turned mine back to more of the original color with the tactan on it.

My second sebbie should be in in a few days and I will definately make it a blue or purple for everyone to see.
