I am new to slipjoint knives. I got my first one in the mail today. It feels great in the hand and it looks great.It is a case mini trapper black g-10.I got it for 30 dollars shipped right here on bladeforums.I have two more coming in the mail. One is a case amber bone mini trapper and the other opinel slim n8.

A nice starter set! Notice I said starter set. There is no turning back once you get your first slip-joint in hand.

I usually don't go for G10 scales because I like bone, but the black G10 really sets off the silver bolsters very nicely. And of course I like the amber bone. I have a couple with those scales on them. Opinels aren't the most rugged of knives. But once you have one, you just seem to find yourself using it. I recommend checking out a carbon steel model sometime. They patina very well.

So welcome to the best side of knife collecting, (at least in my opinion:) ). The chairs out on the porch are comfortable, the wood is perfect for whittlin', the coffee hot, the stories are worth listening to, and most importantly, the company here is great.

Well i got my other knives in the mail.The case amber bone mini trapper. This is a great looking knife. The opinel slim number 8 this is just a cool little knife. It feels great in my hand. My wife actually said to me i would carry one those little knives. Which is suprising because she shows no interest in knives.I guess i should get her one.:eek: We cant afford two knife nuts.
 
Great choice on knives my friend. Those are awesome first choices. Get a Case CV ASAP. You'll love it.
 
I am starting to feel like a dry land 'poppy' grower when I put up photos of slipjoints, oh well better he is with us than 'agin' us........300Bucks
