I can grasp the handle with both my hands comfortably, will be good for beheading zombies i tell ya, :D I really really wanted that hat & for some reason when I saw sword I thought tarwar, either way i'm happy with both

dirtypaulie, congrats!

HI VILLAGER ...INDONESIAN SWORD:
Overall length --29''
Weight--44 oz
Chiruwa style horn handle

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine, which is a bit shorter but 4ounces heavier ... how typical for Sher (he did tend to overbuild!;) )

27 5/8 inch 48 ounce HI Indonesian Sword by Sher the (tiger)...
Steel guard.
Walnut wood handle.

Of several HI swords, my Indonesian has the best sized grip which suits my smaller hands, about 3 3/4inches circumference from memory. :D

If more HI swords were of this size, I'd be a very happy owner of many further models! Too bad for me that HI seems to be going in the opposite way, now with Chiruwa Tarwars which measure over 4 1/2 inches in girth. :(

Your's looks really nice too mine has a much longer handle tho' I'll post more specs when I get a chance. Good night everybody

i wish i could get two hands on mine it is pretty heavy one handed

mine is 28 and 1/4 inches long but 3/8ths at the spine along most of it except near the end 1/4

blade is 20 and 3/4 inches - dont know the weight I would guess 3 1/2 maybe close to 4 pound's - its got some heft to it or what i call um-phus

handle (wood part) is 5 an 1/2 inches metal or bolster? is 1 and 1/2 total handle wood and metal part is 7 inches

i have good strong forearms i spent most of my life swinging hammers 5 pound and lager on an almost daily basis but i need to practice with this to swing with good control

maybe the new handle is longer mine only has 2 pins not 3

if the new ones have longer handle i might like that - an option between one or two handed might be nice

i have been slowly building up my wrist - dont want to pull a tendon

oh by the way -- real nice hunka - hunka steel you got there Paulie -- what are the measurements on your handle

- hey have you noticed (one thing that i like about the Indonesian sword) that if you just slapped an attacker with the flat side of the blade you would knock em out or at least knock em stupid

watch out for over swing - -

Eric

I'd love to swing that thing--with two hands :D A Beauty.:cool::thumbup:

And for one of those few times having small(ish) hands ( :o ) are actually a help: I can hold the grip either single or double handed!

I am able to do the same with both my Giant Chitlangi Bowie by Sher:

Overall length -- 24 1/4''
Weight -- 61 oz
Spine thickness 1/2''

Overall length --24.5''
Weight --60 oz
Spine thickness --3/8''

... now they are truly beasts of blades at almost 5 pounds compared to the lighter 3 pound Indonesian Sword ... folks, only at HI could a 3 pound sword be called light! ;) :p

those really beautiful blades b. c. -

Thank you. Glad you liked them. I get few chances to share my collection face to face so the forum is where I show them, trying to add to a thread, not "threadjack" I hope?.

and Paulie that's a nice collection your building

+ 1 ... I emphasised building as it takes time and more luck than you would expect to get your unique collection together. Money can get items together faster but patience helps getting those pieces that are of special importance to you. But I think luck (Dharma/fate/?) plays its part, as I believe you get the piece that wants you.

Keep on keeping on,

bruce

You can get two hands on a Bhairab? Wow, your hands are small!

No offense .

None taken Cpl. ;)

1) Any grip with a circumference over 4 inches makes me worry whether it will one day go flying through the air if my hand gets tired or slippery.

2) Length is not so hard to live with unless the grip has distinct finger grooves or palm swells which require me to spread out my fingers too far for comfort.

And lastly

3) Weight is what really ruins my being able to use the blade. Anything that is overly heavy, above 32ounces for me, brings points 1 & 2 into play very quickly, making it unsafe and unpleasant for me and anyone around me if my grip should break.

Also it really does make it hard to buy blades that I can use.:(

But in the case of HI at least I can collect those I have purchased and then found the grips to be too big. ;)

But it means passing up on so many appealing blades made elsewhere but such it the way of things.
