I got my ka-bar bowie in the mail today I got a ?

I got my kabar short bowie via UPS today.There is a taiwan stamp on the blade with a 1276 below it. I know that is the model number.How do i find out what knid of steel it is? I have only been buying knives for about 10 months.So there is alot of things i dont know.Your help would be appreciated.

It's a 1085 carbon steel blade with a black coating.

Is that a good steel and is hard to keep sharp.

Well, it's close to a 1095 carbon steel which is a great edge retention and it's fairly easy to sharpen. One thing is that you better keep that edge oiled if you don't want it to rust on you.
