Hey guys!

I know we've all been posting in the actual thread, but this might be time to start a thread so we can track / ensure everyone ends up getting theirs. Since i just got mine, i'll toss up some pictures & a first impression.

I got the AWESOME blade that Gene Kimmi made, and right off the bat - WOW! Nice thin stock, with a stellar grind and an awesome hamon. The blade has a silky feel (not what i would have expected from something that's been dipped in ferric, but i don't have experience here, so i was stunned when it felt like velvet) and every part the hand contacts has been rounded for comfort. Fits in the hand like it was molded for me, great ergos, awesome handle shape for a confident grip (something i feel i struggle with, walking the line of having a blocky big handle vs going to thin and have something that doesn't inspire confidence as you grab it). Desert ironwood right back at home here in AZ with brass corby's to complete the look. Leather retention is spot on, with a consistent dye on it. Sharp edge with a package that my little helper even approves of, overall i'm impressed, and honored that i got Gene's work. If you want any more thoughts - or long term use review in 5-6 months, let me know Gene.

Now everyone's favorite part - the pictures

My favorite part - the lines transition beautifully from one side of the scales to the other, awesome wood with a great finish.

Thanks Dustin for the review. I'm glad you like the knife. I'm definitely up for a review after you get some use on it.

I love a thin knife. I grind them to a thin edge too so they cut really well. I think I've only made a handful of knives thicker than 1/8" out of over 200 made.

On the hamon, I dip in ferric for 15 seconds or so and spray with windex then polish. I repeat this 6-8 times, so it's not in the ferric for much time total.

On the sheath, I always struggled with getting a consistent color until i bought a cheap air brush off amazon. It has made all the difference in the world and vastly improved the look of my sheaths.

Absolutely will do, it already helped me open and process some packages today. Great cutting knife - incredibly well thought out, and i do love the blade finish. So far - so good :) Thanks for the knife.

Last word on the package - i think your COA with all the added information is freaking awesome. Given me some ideas for the future.

Sweet looking knife! Nice one Gene.
Glad to see you've got proper shop supervisors there, Dustin. How old is s/he?
Unfortunately, I'm down to just the one supervisor who's looking at us in my avatar. He's 15-16 now so doesn't supervise much anymore.

Was supposed to be delivered Friday. Not sure how far this is from the destination, but it's made progress, I'm happy.

I know it gets beat to death - and I’m definitely a millennial in the sense that I have a fur child, but man we don’t deserve dogs. She’s 4, which is hard to swallow - times going by so fast. Her name is Nova, and she does PLENTY of supervising. There is a pack? Squad? Of squirrels that are using the holes she has dug against my conex (where my tools and shop are), so she’s always looking for a furry land bullet to chase away.

I received mine today, and I have to say thank you to @TILLER for a very solid knife. I really like the stone washed finish and the gimping on the spine. The Kydex is done well and is super secure. The handle is smooth yet grippy. I look forward to putting it through its paces.

I got my KITH knife from @Daniel Carraher! First of all, thank you very much.

First impressions: Very nice shape and design, handle looks a tad short and bulky but offers firm grip and fits me good. Even and smooth grinds on the bevel, a bit more meat on the tip. Swedge tapers backwards which has an interesting visual appear. Thumb stop is a nice feature, and the grip with the thumb on the spine is really nice (form meets function!). Even finish and nice etching on the blade. I sharpened the tip a bit more on the diamond stone and made a couple of strokes on 6000g water stone and leather strop and it took a very keen edge. I am looking forward to using it more!

Very nice knife, all in all. Super cool frame handle, forced patina, nice Micarta pin motif.

I haven't tried it out yet, so if timos- timos- wants me to do a full review in a few days I'll do that too.

Thanks Tim!

i apologize for the lack of a home made sheath but those guys work great! Please dont feel obliged but of course I always love to hear feedback.

That's cool, the little sheath you sent it works great. I'll do a full review on it soon.
I'll chop some stuff up, let you know how it performs and nit-pick away!
