I wasn't looking for one, but there it was just waiting for me to take it home... What can I say... I need to find a older sheath for it now... Always something... I'm not sure how old it is... I remember Dave Martin said something about the guard... I'm glade I gave that unfinished blade to Leroy... :) ... Thanks for looking....

Akonua...

Flat, Do you want to know about it? That model was made from 1981-85 in that configuration (no yr. mark) and the blade is 425, a good steel. There were two styles of guards made is 81 "?" Could have been only one then changed in 82. But the pointed guard was on the early ones and then used up when the rose wood handles began production. The guard was then changed to the square tipped type, like on yours. However, if you found that same knife exactly like yours, except w/ a pointed guard I'd be UPSET. For those are rare! Just kidding. For that knife in that shape under $100 is within reason. If in the box certainly $100. If the guard were pointed--more. That model is my favorite Buck sheath knife. Good find! DM

Armand,

That was David's post on my Akonua from the Pawn Shop which is exactly like yours. Nice knives those Akonuas.

We still need to talk, email me OK. g

This may be repetitve, but here is a pic of the pointy Akonua. This one has black micarta scales.

Dave:

Only if on EBAY your name is MARYT and you mistakenly sold it for $46.75.:D:D. Actually, it is a little out of my league, my collection runs mostly to 100 series knives. However, I have never been able to let a good deal go by. Now, if it were a readhead------:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Have Happy Holidays and keep providing your helpful info on knives.
