thanks, yeah i got lucky with this one. even a blind skunk finds an acorn sometimes. i washed it and the handles lightened up a bunch. it might look a little better when the handles darken with oil.

What are you using to darken the micarta? wd40, cooking oil?

i just use the oily rag that i use on the blade. usually has miltec on it. wd works ok too and it doesn't darken as much. if it gets dark to the point of being too black i just use the hottest tap water, liquid dish soap and a pot scrubber or brush to clean them. water is so hot the handles and rest of knife dry instantly. then i oil with miltec or tuf-cloth or wd. it all works for me.
