I hope this is in the right place. This is my first thread, but I’ve been lurking around for a while now. First off, thank you all for the invaluable knowledge, experiences, and information that is shared on this forum. It’s a great venue full of great people.

I grew tired of being held prisoner by the heat, so today I got out to the wilderness for the first time in almost two months. It was hot but it was great! Caught some little blue gills, got in a hike, and finished up with some pork “n” beans and a fine cigar. It’s like visiting an old friend and it really recharges the batteries. I just thought I would share (sorry about the lousy cell phone pics).

Take Care - WB

That is awesome man. Getting out into the woods and doing some fishing and and having a fire. That is a great day.

Nothing like fresh fish cooked over an open fire to go along with those beans.

Great first thread buddy, I look forward to many more !;)

One small tip...put a space between ya pics !

Thank you. I cracked the handle just below the tang, so I cut the handle down. Once I start modifying a knife, I can't stop. I re-contoured the blade to a modified parang, stripped her down, and forced a patina. She's a great chopper and she always accompanies me into the wild.

That's the way to do it! I'd love to see more pics of that golok.

Man, I haven't had a chance to go fishing yet this year (I need to buy some new gear after the earthquake). I envy you.
It's as hot as the proverbial here too. The mountains around here are the coolest place to go, but then you get attacked by the zebra mosquitoes. Your pics may have convinced me to just go anyway.
