I placed an order a while back with KME and got some of their new product's.

I got their $160.00 Chosera Stone set and a 3 pack of their Gold Series Hones as well for $63.95,I also got 4 Micron and .5 Micron Diamond paste and 2 Strops as well and Ron was nice enough to throw in a set of their newer and longer jaws that hold the blade.

I found the Chosera Stones to work extremely well and I found that when I got to the 10.000 Grit the edge was Bur free and would cut paper without tearing at all the knifes edge just glided threw it like a hot knife threw butter.I know from what I have read a lot of guys on the net think the Chosera Stones are olny good for sharpening kitchen Knives and I can tell you this is not true as I used them on a cheap Kershaw pocket knife and other knives as well including kitchen knives and found they were all much sharper then I have ever gotten them.

KME has changed from the DMT Diamond Hones to another company that makes Jeweler's Hones and from what Ron told me the new Gold Series Hones last a lot longer then the DMT Hones,I know some people have complained a bit about DMT Diamond Hones and although they are not crap they are just not anywhere near as good as the Gold Series Hones,I also noticed the Gold Series Hones cut a lot faster then any of my DMT Hones I got from Ron when I got my KME system.

The Strops worked really well and increased sharpness,I did not notice and more sharpness when I jumped from the 4 Micron to the .5 Micron

I also found that when using the new jaws that KME has come out with allows you to hold a knife that is more narrow and there is more clearance,it also allows you to sharpen a knife at a lower angle then you used to be able to with the KME system.

I did not see the new jaws on there website but I'm Ron would be happy to sell them if asked, also the new jaws will fit all KME Systems as it is olny the jaws that have been changed and not the handle itself.

Here are a few Pic's of the new Stones I got and the new jaws being compared to the old ones.

I just ordered an X-Coarse Gold plate the other day to try out on my KME. How are yours holding up so far?

Good thread, I have been following KME products for a while, but haven't gotten around to purchasing any of their products yet.

I have had quite a few DMT products over the past 15+ years and have never had any problems with them at all.

First post to the forum, I just got the new KME and it came with the updated jaws, so I was happy to see that. It has the new style stone carrier also. They are also going to offer a set of jaws that will accommodate smaller shallow blade pocket knives. I'm happy so far with the system. I just put a very nice edge on a 9in Chef knife and every other knife in the house. I will get the gold stone set in the near future as I have been told they work better than the DMT. Also want some of the cbn and strops.

This looks like a great clamp system & I love the inclusion of diamond & waterstones to the options. What stones do you go to after the extra-fine diamond? I'd like to move from the diamonds to the strops for a mirrored bevel but I'm pretty sure I'll need at least one intermediate stone to smooth it out a bit after the last diamond stone.

Also, are the Chosera & diamond stones the same height?

flatface, I would move to the Dans hard black or translucent, then to the cbn and strops. As for a difference in stone thickness between the chosera & diamonds, don't know the answer for that.

I use a 4" fine DMT in my KME. I've been needing a new coarse plate, so I decided to give the Gold a shot, but I have no problem with DMT. I've had the DMT for about 4 years with no issues. I think most people who're having trouble with the them are using too much pressure. I clamp the DMT plate into the holder on the KME and just let the weight of it at the holder rest on the edge of the blade. Let the diamonds do the work. No additional pressure needed. Still, the Golds are something new, so I want to try them out. They do supposedly cut faster than the DMT diamonds, which interests me. We'll see.

I've got the system with the stock stones, very interesting what they've added to the lineup. It's not a good system for tiny, traditional pocketknife, blades, but is great for larger fixed blades. The quality is excellent. Nice to see the upgrades, I can't help but think they're competing with the Wicked Edge.
