I got the itch for a Bark River Sandstorm 160

Nice looking knife.

Do you have any specs on it as far as blade materiel/hardness ?

welcome to the forums, Kimper!

I have seen and held one- a very stout and "right on" for size and quality!

I've not handled the "Sandstorm", but I did get to sharpen a 4" drop point Bark River knife with a green canvas micarta handle just the other day. It was a purdy knife, but the blade showed a bit of pitting, and a little standing rust. I am quite sure it wasn't D2 or 1095, but it was some type of tool steel, maybe A2. Anyway, the blade took an insanely sharp edge with the edge pro. With a couple of swipes on the strop, I honestly believe I could easily have shaved with it. Not all knives take that keen of an edge!

Most bark Rivers are A2, with some of the newer ones being stainless.

I got this info and Specs off the DLT website:

"Here are the Specs on the Knife Overall Length:9.5 Inches Blade Length: 5 Inches Blade Material: 12C27 Sandvick S.S. Blade Thickness: .170" Hardness: 58rc Gurad: Double Quillion 6061 Aircraft Aluminum Weight:5.625 Ounces Weight in Sheath: 9.250 Ounces"

The steel is 12C27 Sandvick S.S. New to me. Any body work with this steel before?

So what handle material did you buy? What an incredible selection; it would be hard to choose.

The Chechen Burl is something different. The amboynia burl always looks great on a Bark River. The ironwood or mesquite wood be keeping in theme (sandstorm, desert, get it?). And the big horn sheep is beautiful.

So, how'd you decide?

All are gorgeous. If I bought something fancy I would never use it. Thats just me. So I bought the black micarta handle one. I know I could use that sucker. I had the link to the pic but as soon as I purchaced it the pic went away. Guess they only had 1 in stock.
