After missing an auction for a BM Bone Collect (good deal, it went for $87Shipped) I went surfing around for a deal on one. Low and behold I found one that had stabilized walnut grips. I had never seen one before and at a price a couple of Jacksons cheaper than everyone else was selling the regular ones for. I couldn't resist, so I added it to the cart, made the payment, and then went back for one more look and it suddenly said "sold out". I hope I'm disappointed, I'm far too anxious to get this thing in my hot little hands. :D Does anyone know how many of the BM Bone Collectors were made with the walnut scales?

Congrats! I didn't know the walnut handled ones had been released yet. And I'm pretty sure they're standard production, not a limited release. I could be wrong though.

Never heard of it! Pics! :D

If they're regular production that'll be OK, I won't feel so bad about using it. I don't keep safe queens. :p

noob question, is it real wood? Inlays? verneer? Faux wood?

Ohhhh... your gonna get hammered... jk.. it is real walnut.. according to the O.P... / Stabilized wood is just wood that has been soaked in a type of lacquer to fill in all the little pores.

It makes it more durable. Not G-10 durable, but durable. The resin make the wood less likely to split or swell also.

Check out the scales I had made for my RAM. They're stabilized maple burl died blue. The wood have somewhat of a smooth fiberglass feel, but can be roughed up to add grip.

The G-10 on my Rift felt more solid and durable, but not as purdy. The stabilization didn't give it a plasticy feel like I was expecting. It still had the pourious feel of wood. so the was a bit of an overall light texture.

Ive held one at Bass Pro and am thinking about pulling the trigger on it. It has the light weight feel of wood and not quite as grippy as the g10 version, but overall its very nice. The wood looks much nicer on the knife in person than in the pictures.
