I got The One That Got Away

Back in October or so I posted a thread entitled "The One I Let Get Away". I tried to search to recover it but it appears the search is down, I even re-upped my basic membership to get the search function but it isn't working right now. Anyway, I ended up getting the knife! A recap: saw a Buck Gent Kittery Trading Post anniversary knife at the store in Maine while on our Anniversary trip, didn't buy it right there, regretted it, called when we got home, knife was higher priced than I thought, didn't buy it a second time. A few days later, my wife gave me a card with a note that said: "no regrets, buy the knife!", with $27 to cover the knife and shipping. (Is she great or what?) So, time goes by, the holidays come and go and finally I get time to call them and order the knife. The clerk tells me, "oh, it just went off sale today, it's not $19.99 anymore, it's $39.99." I tell him the whole story and ask for a manager. He talks to the manager himself and tells me that he can give it to me for $26.99 plus shipping ($5.99) but that's it. I tell him forget it, don't buy the knife for the third time! Now I'm really steamed, I send a very nasty email with the whole story and express my disappointment. I don't hear anything for a week and then the real manager of the knife dept. calls and is very apologetic, tells me he'll try to make it up to me by sending me the knife for his cost ($18.99) and he'll pay the shipping. So...I figure, what the heck, at least it has a good story to go with it and he sends it off. Nothing special, just a Gent with some engraving but it was just one of those things!

*Hopefully these pics come out-I followed Bernard Levine's tutorial but they kept showing up with only the red x in a box on the preview.

Oh...I thought it was from Friar Tarx...You know...Reuben Hood, Alvin-a-Dale, Little Jake, Maid Marilyn, all them cool English dudes...

Seems like a nice knife...Is that the liner itself with the engraving, or is it a "cladding" laid over the liner??? Would Buck have had to slim down the bolsters to fit it???

I love the Tarx brothers!!! Garbo, Seppi, Zippy, Grumpy, and Melvin... :D

I especially like the movie with the "stateroom" scene...they're stowaways on board a ship and keep getting visitors to their stateroom...and food...and one hard boiled egg...<honk!>...two hard boiled eggs... :p
