Here I go again, trying to describe a real work of art with my limited blue collar vocabulary...

I thought the pictures uncle Bill posted of the Sanu Bhimsen special were real nice. In person it is spectacular!

It's about the size of my 15" BAS but with a wonderfully fullered blade. Fantastic magic stone finish.
Handle of walnut(?) absolutely perfectly mated to the bolster and carved wonderfully by Bhimsen. I don't know how anyone could make a nicer wood handle.

The scabbard is a work of art. with different designs on front and back. Fine detail with every bit of carving looking perfect. Nice varnish (?) finish. The silver mountings are extremely smooth and have no tooling marks whatsoever.Every line is straight with no wrinkles. Karda and Chakma are small but they are carved and well done also.

Sanu and Bhimsen have really outdone themselves on this one......the only thing I can't figure out, is how I'm going to display it. There are no holes or anything on the back to hang it from....I'll figure out something....

Wow........

Nice huh Roger?
That's the same way the YCS was, the pix only showed an image, the real thing was so much more....

As to displaying it, simple. Put a nice small diameter rope around it leaving a bit of slack in the back and make a square knot. Then take the two ends of the rope and wrap them around the hanger of your choice with a knot.
That's the way I hung up my Hanuman Special.

It's easily accessed and doesn't mar the leather or finish.

Yvsa,
I'm in Khuk heaven. Even my wife said " Wow, that's really nice! and then she wanted to handle it....not a regular occurance, although she understands my affection for these fine blades made by the men of Nepal.

....and to think I'll probably be getting a YCS by Christmas....I don't know how it could get much better than this!!!!!!!!

Let me add this:

This baby is sharp.

Capital S
Capital H
Capital A
Capital R
Capital P

Sharpest Khukuri I've ever seen. It will slice paper with ease. Shaves hair real well too.

Almost scary sharp.

Atc---The scabbard for that Tarwar is going to be a serious piece of wood!! I've been going over the woodwork with a "fine tooth comb" and I can't find a single spot where Bhimsen slipped or miscut. The handle on the Khuk is every bit as nice as the scabbard.

It's getting REAL hard to say which Khukuri is my favorite

This one reminds me of a wood Kothimoda!

I took it to work today.
Got some serious "ooohs and ahhhs".
Even cutleryphobes liked it. Especially after I told them about Nepal and it's people. (What I know).

Yvsa,

Your hanging method works great. I used a shoelace, of all things. A nice braided 2 tone brown, round one like used for some hiking boots.

Looks great hanging next to my Kothimoda

Great Job Roger!!!!

Terry also has a great "hanging" system for khukuris that have the regular frog. He has his and Sandi's hanging on a large dowel rod through the frogs that mounts on something like a gun rack, only further apart. It may be a gun rack, actually I have always been to busy looking at the khukuris to notice anything except the large dowel rod.

Glad my system worked out for you. Did you hang the Kothimoda the same way?

I really need to get mine and Barb's hung up somewhere, there not quite
"under the bed" like Uncle Bill's, but they're mighty close being just behind the bedroom door. Actually one or two sometimes slips under the bed somehow, perhaps Uncle Bill knows something we don't or maybe the "dust bunnies" just keep trying to drag them under the bed?

The Kothimoda has a loop of nylon cord going through the 2 eyelets on the back.

Wow, the dowel idea is a great one. I could get some dowel from the lumber yard and stain it walnut or something, Varathane it, and then make a couple wood "brackets" to hang the whole setup on once it's filled with Khuks.
