I gotta "new" old Daddy!

I picked up a new Camillus Daddy Barlow yesterday while moving my sister-in law out of town. I walked into a surplus shop in between appointments and spotted a red Camillus box with about 4 of these Daddys brand new in the plastic, in the box that appeared to be about 30 years old! I bought this one and I am pretty happy with this "new" old guy. Stamped "Camillus New York USA" and a number 9 on the back.

I didn't have time to look more but I think they also had a box of "brand new" Camillus Barlows with a coping main and pen blade. I am stopping by again on Friday to see what else I can find!

I might be able to pick a couple more up if someone is interested. Just pm me before mid-morning tomorrow and I will do my best. I don't want to get into all that on this thread so just pm me!

So has anyone else found neat groupings of knives like that? I might expect to see this at a knife show where someone bought up a box or two many years ago but to find it in a surplus store was a bit of a surprise and they were priced as working knives not as collectibles.

Nice!

I like Camillus, and I like Barlows, and I think Daddy Barlows are neat too!

Last find like that for me was a Sporting Goods store that was moving, and they were blowing out Boker pocket folders. I stocked up!

Then the following week a gun store was dropping their knives and had still more Bokers (and others) at cost!

Hard on my wallet, but filled out my wants (and my knife drawer) for a little while...

Forgot to mention. I was lucky enough to get one of these. Thanks again, man. I was just looking at it. Beautiful knife. I'll throw a pic up. Looks like the one above, but the box is especially neat.

a new camillus is rare now huh? and one that old is even more rare
good score

what's the closed size? 3 3/4? 4?

Thank you Grant.

This is a great Daddy Barlow. The blade is perfectly centered.

If you find any more, I am in.

Folks, please follow the request of the OP and the forum guidelines and take such requests to PM or email. 'Nuff said.

Elliott,

My sincere apologies. This is my fault.

I got carried away.

Grant had requested PMs. I complied, and we had already done our business by PM.

I was so delighted with the result that I incorrectly expressed my satisfaction with what I thought was a rhetorical question, but inappropriate.

I apologize for my error. Grant had no part in my mistake.

Sorry, meant to answer when Max asked. Closed, just under 5". Blade, just over 4".

My trip is over and I cherry picked the best ones. Just one left with a mad off center blade. I wouldn't touch it. Thanks!

Have a Remington Grandaddy Barlow and an AG Russel Daddy Barlow. Both Camillus made. Very nice and surprisingly easy to carry in a front pocket. Easier for me than a regular two blade barlow.
