I guess I really like traditional knives

I just sold a new BM581 and bought a GEC #53 furtaker muskrat dressed in burnt stag. I guess I'm officially a convert. I will post pics when I get it. I started carrying one of my Case trappers and find I have been using my slip joint much more.

One hand openers have their utility but nothing matches the thin blades and old timey feel of a slipjoint. Fit and finish on a slipjoint can make it even better. I had a furtaker trapper but sold it.

It helps that I stumbled across an online store the ships free to Canada and carries GEC, Queen and many more. I have a local store that carries a few Case patterns but that was very limiting.

Another Canadian slip joint fan, welcome to the club! Whereabouts are you from? Good choice for your first gec:)

I'm in Ontario near Kitchener. I have had 2 large trappers from Case for a few years but never carried them. One is in a safe wrapped up, a Pearl premiere and a number 1 in the series as well. I really like stag scales so hope to accumulate some. Not really set on a favorite pattern but look forward to carrying the muskrat, I like the warncliff blade.

Very nice. I haven't had the pleasure to own a case knife as no local stores carry them sadly. However, I love my GECs and I think you will be really happy with yours when it comes. Be sure to let us know what you think (and share some pictures while your at it :))

I received my first GEC today and I really like the fit and finish, the stag is very nice as well. I was very surprised at the size of the pattern it is quite a large knife, I sharpened both blades with a fine DMT stone and used a good quality steel to get the blades the way I like. So far I'm impressed. I have a GEC #72 lock back with a wharncliffe blade coming also and it has beautiful stag on it. I will post pictures of it also.

That's a real gem you have there. Aesthetics are top notch with these traditional folders, but they're venerable as well, and have proven themselves time and time again. They'll do anything within reason very well.

If it's a touch too big, take a look at the #68 white owl... Nice blade by the way, GEC has amazing stag. The obsession begins!

Welcome to world of GEC. Their F&F is outstanding for a production knife. I have several and am very impressed with them.

Here is the #72LB I just got today, you can't really see from the pictures how amazing the stag is. It is almost too nice to carry but I doubt it will be left out of my pocket very often.
