Always preferred big knives and when I'm looking at new knives I tend to lean towards the the bigger folders. I'm noticing though they either don't get carried often and when they do they bother me.

Have you tried different belt sheaths? I've found horizontal sheaths work pretty good for some large folders.

I kinda feel the same way sometimes. I like the Lionsteel SR1 a lot but I don't really need that big of a knife so I usually go with an Endura or BM710 since they still have a "long" blade minus the weight and thickness. I do still carry the larger folders every once in a while, when I believe they'll be more useful for what I'm doing that day or when it's easier to carry them depending on what I'm wearing.

Yea, I don't really dig sheaths.

Yep BM710. A great little big knife.

I"m talking lighter than a 710, guys. 4 oz or less!

What are your other parameters? Blade, closed, and overall lengths? Price? Any specific style or lock?

What are the big knives that you have that are bothersome to carry?

I just weighed my 710 and it came at 4.71. Might be heavier than you prefer but i assure you it is well balanced and is light for its size. Carries well in the pocket too.

That how I feel with small knives, I hardly buy them any more since they dont get carried much and a small blade generally doesnt have nearly the performance and ergos of a large blade for my prefrence
(I consider large to be around 3.75" and up) and my preferred blade length is right around 4". Im a plumber for a living so bigger knives are more useful to me. I also couldnt care less about weight, I cant tell the difference between 2 oz and 8 oz when its sitting in my pocket, but to each his own. Theres some impressive performing small knives that I like pretty well though, the leek, skyline, delica, native, manbug and case peanut to name a few.

You don't have to defend the 710; I'm aware of it's greatness because I've owned a couple now. Great knife! I just prefer lighter these days. :)

A Full size Ritter is what you're looking for.

Never owned a Ritter; I"ve had the Pardue edition though.

And I think different knives will serve different purposes. I work in an office and I just don't want to EDC a 5 oz plus knife anymore. If I need cutting power I'll move to a fixed blade.

. . . or a nice pair of ordinary office shears.

I'm in the same boat you are. I neither need nor want to drag a pocket brick around the office all day. Most of my EDCs weigh less than 4 ounces and I don't carry any of them clipped to my pocket. What I do keep clipped to my pocket is a Leatherman Micra. Funny thing is, my Micra sees far more service than any of my EDCs do.

In order of importance, a staple puller, a Micra, a pair of office shears and a lightweight EDC are all the sharp instruments I really need. :)

I had started looking at that thread but got turned off from it.

I've got a PM2 on the way; I know its not a Gentlemen's knife by any means BUT it's a lighter and slimmer knife than what I've been carrying but I'm seriously interested in the ZT 0770CF.

The PM2 is great, my only complaint would be that the blade is a little short (for such a large handle).

What about the Manix 2 Lightweight? I have the blue one, but they just came out with the black one in S110V.

I just got the Manix 2 LW yesterday. With S110V and a pivot screw, it's a great knife for a small price.

Perhaps you'd enjoy an Al Mar Eagle Ultralight? 4" blade, slim profile, around 2oz, made by Moki. Worth a look!

Good luck! :)
