This one just joined the flock.

Blade centering is good.

Lockup just under 50%, and solid, with full lock bar engagement.

Check out the sexy blade grind.:D

My initial impressions are good. The F&F are good, and the action with the ball bearing pivot is very smooth. Outstandingly smooth in fact. Better than my ZT's, and comparable to my Iron Dragon. Emerson seems to have the right recipe for ball bearing pivots.

My only hit is that the detent could be stronger, but it's not terrible, and it flips good without wrist action.

I'll do a full review in a few weeks, once she's broken in, and we've spent some quality time together.

Nice acquisition, I'm quite jealous of your collection. New family photo?

How does the handle feel compared to that of the 7?

Thanks for the complement. I'm pretty happy with the way my Emerson collection is shaping up.:)

As far as the handle, it is (other than the large finger choil) actually similar to the CQC-7. The handles on both knives are almost the exact same size.

Here are a couple of quick snaps of the updated family.

Though they are similar at a glance, they feel quite different in hand. More of a hump along the spine of the handle on the Sheepdog. Deeper index finger choil on the Sheepdog. A little more curve to the area one's pinky would sit. All in reference to forward grip. Sheep dog is more filling in the hand versus a CQC-7. Here's a pic.
