:D:D I did a lot of driving today, about 70 miles total and only
ended up with 1 knife:( I'm kind of nursing a bit of a hangover, and the
weather after being so cold and miserable most of the month is Hot and
Humid!!!
I ended up getting a very nice Vantage Avid. Very nice knife, and razor
sharp. I have to reverse the pocket clip, but I hate to because it will
cover up the Buck and Anvil insert. But I have to do it. It's still a bit
stiff. I loosened the pivot screw just a hair and applied some Tuf-
Glide. That helped some, it will just take some using, and I can handle
that chore:D
I like the Diamondwood, and especially the Charcoal color, I think it
makes a very handsome knive.
So here She is.....
Regards Sonny

Sonny that's a great choice. I have that exact knife as my backpocket clip carry knife right now. I'm a real big fan of 13C26 blade steel. It holds an edge a tad better than 420hc and will get razor sharp pretty easily.

Anyway congrats on your new Vantage. I feal certain that after you've used it for a while you'll still be just as thrilled. gw

Sonny, you're gonna love that knife! I have mine in my right front pocket right now. That steel is great, and it's why I chose the Avid model on the Paradigm I have on back order.
When I first got my Vantage Avid, she was a little stiff too. I gave the pivot area a shot of break free CLP and with some use she's now faster than a democrat raising taxes.

SunnyD, that's a cool knife that Vantage Avid... I really like the way it looks... I have to get me one like it some day... ITE

Thank you Sir. I read some posts, not on here how a lot of people didn't
like that steel for outdoors, and suggested it was more of a Kitchen Cuttlery steel??? It's in my front pocket right now.

Thanks ITE! they had both the Avid and the Vantage Pro which the only
difference was the G-10 handles on the pro. I found the Diamondwood
better looking, and for 10 dollars less money, a better buy. It's going to
be my EDC for a while, along with my 110 on my belt.
Regards Sonny

The Pro has G-10 and SV 30 steel...I have a few of all of them and like them all...Great knives!

Buck use another Sandvik steel named 12C27M and it was a steel meant for a kitchen blade steel. It is extremely stain resistant and tough. Good steel never the less.

The 13C26 was originally made to be razorblade steel. I think either will be perfectly fine for use outdoors, indoors, in the skinning shed, or in a collector's display case!! :D

In the past week or so, I think I've recommended this knife to three different people. No kidding. It's a tremendous value.

Hey Thanks guys, tom19176, I didn't notice about the blades, but I
know you are right.
I'll definitely be getting more, but I'm going to buy them online. I found
this knife online for a little under 28 dollars, and I paid 40 at Bass Pro.
I'll definitely pick up the Pro!!!
Thanks again guy's.......Your AWESOME!!!!......I've learned so much about
Buck knives in my short time here, and I owe it to all of you.

Sonny, I took my Vantage Avid and sliced some things inside, and then took it outside and sliced up a few more things....there you go...a scientific study that proves the Avid WILL cut outdoors.... Glad I could help!;)

:D Thank you for that Scientific report:D It definitely is a slicing son of a
gun!!!!! I always thought my Benchmades were sharp, but this one and my
110 are scary!!! You could easily shave with either.
